Grand Officers Of
Rainbow For Girls
Honored At Dinner
Wednesday evening of last
week the Rainbow for Girls held
a special meeting, honoring Miss
Christine Pasley, grand worthy
advisor for the Order of Rain
bow for Girls in Oregon, Mrs
Verna M Gray, supreme inspector
and Mrs Harold Becker, grand
deputy. .
A dinner was served by the
Rainbow advisory board, assisted
by Mrs Jodie Morrison, Mrs Fred
Thomas and Mrs L D Tibbies.
Following the meeting there
was entertainment, which was
provided by the Rainbow Girls
of lone and Heppner.
Mrs Tibbies was appointed to
serve on the advisory board.
Mrs Mankin Honors
Visitor At Party
Mrs Fred Mankin entertained
Tuesday afternoon with a pinochle-dessert
party in honor of
Mrs Nick Femmerling, who is
visiting here.
The guests were Mrs Ed La
Trace, Mrs Clarence Johnson, Mrs
Charlie Becket, Mrs Earl Evans,
Mrs Ambrose Chapin, Mrs Henry
Happold, Mrs Robert Lowe, Mrs
Walter Becket, Mrs 0 E Wright
and Mrs Ben Anderson.
High prize for the afternoon
was won by Mrs Johnson, second
high by Mrs Lowe and low by
Mrs Evans. Double pinochle was
won by Mrs Walter Becket and
Mrs Johnson.
Mrs Ferguson Hostess
For Wednesday Club
Mrs Raymond Ferguson en
tertained the Sewing Club last
Wednesday afternoon, at her
Hager street home.
Guests were Mrs P W Mahoney,
Mrs Lowell Gribble, Mrs John
Pfeiffer, Mrs Carl Spaulding, Mrs
E K Schaffitz, Mrs Jack Bedford
and Mrs Robert Penland.

Sans Souci Rebekahs
Plan Convention
Sans Souci Rebekah lodge no
33 met Friday evening, October
2 with 31 members and two vis
itors present.
Final plans were made for the
district convention at lone, to
be held on October 15 and also
for the president's visit, with
members participating on com
mittees and in skits.
All members are invited to at
tend a potluck dinner at 6:30
p m on Friday, October 16 at
the IOOF hall.
Drill practice was held after
the meeting and drill captain,
Mrs Ray McDowell called anoth
er practice for Monday night.
Mrs Frank Ayers and Mrs C
J D Bauman qualified with the
unwritten work.
Hostesses who served cider and
doughnuts after the meeting
were Mrs Bauman, Mrs Herb
Case, Mrs Fred Thomas and Mrs
Roy Neill.
Mrs L L Robbins was the win
ner of the penny drill.
All members are urged to at
tend the next meeting on October
16, as nominations will be ac
cepted for officers for the coming
year.
Lutheran Church Has
High Tea Sunday
The Valby Lutheran church
ladies entertained with a high
tea Sunday afternoon at the
Lawrence Becket home. Members
of the Hope Lutheran church and
friends also attended.
The rooms were beautifully
decorated with fall flowers.
Mrs Henry Rauch poured-at the
tea table, which was decorated
with a centerpiece of bronze car
nations on a lace table cloth.
Karen Lundell was in charge of
the punch table.
Hostesses were Mrs William
Bergstrom, Mrs Jess Warfield,
Mrs Lawrence Becket and Mrs
John Bergstrom. Assisting about
the rooms were Mrs Raymond
Lundell, Marilyn Bergstrom and
Miss Esther Bergstrom.
Mrs Ben Anderson is chairman
of the Missionary Society. Mrs
John Rydgren conducted the
Bible study and showed films on
missionary work, and Karen
Lundell and Mrs Bill Rawlins
read scripture lessons.

The wedding of Barbara Jo
Ann Williams, daughter of Mrs
Armin Wihlon, Lexington, to
John Patrick Rogers, son of Mr
and Mrs John Rogers of Ballin-
alee, Ireland, was solemnized In
a double ring ceremony at the
Powell Butte Christian church,
Powell Butte, Oregon, Sunday
afternoon, Sept 20. The Rev D L
Penhollow performed the cere
mony.
The bride wore a pale blue
suit with white accessories and
a white carnation corsage, and
her mother wore a blue suit with
white accessories and a pink
rosebud corsage.
Attendants for the couple were
Mr and Mrs Arnold Springer of
Heppner.
Attending the wedding and re
ception were Jack Lowe and
Thomas Low and wife, Portland,
brothers of the bride. Other
guests were Mr and Mrs Wayne
Crosswhlte, Mr and Mrs Tom
Stearns and family and Mrs Del-
la Bell of Redmond; Mr and

Fourth Birthday
Monday afternoon Tod Shar
rard celebrated his fourth birth
day with a party at the home
of his parents, Mr and Mrs Has
kell Sharrard.
His guests were Pammy Olson,

Has Study On Hawaii
The lone Extension unit met
October 1 at the home of Mrs
Louis Carlson, with 21 members
and two guests present and each
were presented a lei.
The program was the study of
Hawaii, with Mrs Norman Nel
son and Mrs Ed Baker as project
leaders. They served a curried
rice dish, for lunch and tropical
punch made of passion fruit
Juice.
Mrs Nelson showed slides she
had taken on her trip to Hawaii
and gave a very Interesting talk.
Mrs Baker gave a summary cov
ering their chief industries, and
the tourist trade. During part of
the meeting Hawaiian music was
played In the background.
Tables showed displays of
shells, nets, mats, glass balls and
shell Jewelry.
Barbara Peterson received the
door prize.
After the meeting, Mrs Carlson
and Mrs Baker were surprised
with a stork shower.
Refreshments were served by
Mary Holtz and Barbara Peter
son.

pner held Its regular monthly
business meeting Thursday noon
at the Wagon Wheel.
Committee reports were given
and Mrs William Collins was
appointed to assist the budget
committee.
A final report was niven on
the annual hayrlde benefit card
party and It was found that
more money will have to be rais
ed to finance the Hallowe'n hayrlde.
