Over The
Tee Cup
By Jackie Labhart
Despite a somewhat dense
"Oregon mist" Sunday, 15 stal-1
wart sons of the golfing club,
turned out for the men's first
organized golf play this spring
and I think our spring has
sprung an oversized leak this
year. Those who defied the
downpour were Clint McQuarrie,
Conley Lanham, Lowell Gribble,
Fannie Doherty, Jim Driscoll,
Judge Carmichael, Phil Mahoney,
Bob Mahoney, Harlan McCurdy,
Ed Bennett, Ned Sweek, Del Jor
dan, Jack Loyd, and Gene Hall.
New golf balls were won by
Fannie who had low gross score.
Jim had the longest drive on
No 6 and Jim and Fannie tied
for the lowest combined scores
on No 6 and No 8.
Tuesday it was still raining,
but there were still 12 gullible
eals who, in anticipation of a
stopage in the precipitation,
played in the ladies day com
petition. The drowned damsels
were Cathy Collins, Maxine
Gray, Sally Cohn, Meg Murray,
Velma Glass, Hester Creswick,
Dee Gribble, Vi Lanham, Kay
Robinson. Cork Norene, Hazel
Mahoney and myself. Vi shot low
gross score and in our drawing
for "blind partners" Hazel and
Dee had the lowest combined
scores.
