The Holly Rebekah lodge met
on Thursday night with noble
grand, Merle Cornileson in the
cnair. ine sick members were
remembered with cards. The
Easter Day dinner was announ
ced. At this time election of
a trustee was held with Delpha
jones oeing elected. Refresh
ments were served by the re
freshment committee, LaVerne
Henderson and Delpha Jones.
Dale Waddill, principal of Lex
ington high has released the fol
lowing honor roll students for
the second nine weeks. Dora
Sue Davidson, Laddie Henderson,
Hank Pointer. Lee Cornileson.
Dennis Doherty, Charlene Jones
and Linda Van Winkle. Dora Sue
had a straight 4.
Mrs Lucile Weatherford has re
turned to her teaching after an
absence of two weeks. She ac
companied her mother's body
to Wisconsin for burial. Mrs Mad
sen passed away in Heppner at
the hospital a couple of weeks
ago. She had made her home
with her daughter and family
lor several years.
Mrs Velma Glass, county
health nurse, and Delpha Jones,
president of the hospital auxil
iary, visited Monday afternoon
at the Good Shepherd hospital
in Hermiston. Mrs Glass accom
panied the Irrigon high school
girls on a tour of the hospital.
Mrs Dean Hunt and Mrs John
nie Ledbetter were Pendleton
visitors on Monday.
Mrs Bertha Hunt and Mrs
Shirley McCarl were Pendleton
visitors Monday.
Mrs Clarice McFadden is
spending a few days in Kinzua
at the home of her daughter and
family, Mr and Mrs Al Frost.
Mrs Dean Hunt entertained
with a coffee hour one day last
week, honoring Mrs Millie Fair
cloth. Those present were Mil
dred Davidson, Eileen Padberg,
Gena Leonard, Faye Thornburg,
and the hostess.
Miss Marlene Galyen and Mrs
Cherry Hermann were visitors in
Pendleton Saturday.

tlope Conference at Seattle re
turned with ideas galore. Now
everyone on the Hehisch staff is
hurrying about, trying to start
improving the paper immediat
ely. The conference lasted for
two days and Include pin ccoc
in the morning and afternoons
oi ootn days. Among the enter
tainment the staff members en
j oyedwas a Broadwav nlav. "Tho
Warm Peninsula" which starred
the well-known actress, Julie
Harris. At the conference ban
quet on Friday night, the group
was entertained by a singing
group "Dav. Dawn and Dusk-
whose fine harmony called for
encore after encore. The dele
gates took the train to Seattle.
and were accompanied by their
advisor, Mr Kirk and Mrs Ran
dall Martin.
After being defeated bv Irri.
gon on Friday night, the Mus
tangs are back in the running
again and will be the West i
team in the district playoffs, if
they win the game with Board
man on February 25. lone and
Stanfield, who are tied, will play
Friday at Boardman for second
and third places.
FFA members had their an-
nual parent and son banquet on
February 24. Musical selections
were given by Marv Evelvn
Tukcer, trumpet solo, Elaine
Laird, who sang a solo, and Clif
ford Green, who plaved the ac-
cordlan. Speakers for the banquet
included Dick Wilkinson, Bill
Barratt, Dr McMurdo, and John
Wiehtman. Awards. Dins and
trophies were given to FFA mem-
oers who had earned them
throughout the year.
Seniors are busv Drenariner col-
leee aDDlicatlons and are also
trying for as many scholarships
as possible. The date for grad
uation has been set as May 27.
Seniors are now counting the
days, and most of them are wish
ing they would go by faster.
HAPPY STITCHERS
The Happy Stitchers club met
on Feb 19 with eight members
present. For roll call we told
what to do to help at home. We
sang "Land of the Empire Build
ers." For 4-H week we plan to
display some of the things we
have made. The members work
ed on their head scarfs. Karen
Nelson was hostess.
Our next meeting will be
March 5 at Mrs Hausler's home.

Mr and Mrs Harold Gauger are
the parents of a daughter born
Feb 15 at the Good Shepherd
hospital in Hermiston. She has
been named Celeste Therel Rae.
Grandparents are Mr and Mrs
Wesley C Gauger, Rockford, Iowa,
and Mr and Mrs Leonard Hirst,
Jackson Heights, N Y. Great
grandparents are, Mrs O E Slo
cum, Los Angeles, Calif, and Mr
Hirst, New Bedford, Mass. The
baby weighed eight pounds.
Roy Partlow took the members
of his Milk and Steak 4-H club
on a tour of the Pendleton Grain
Growers farm Saturday, starting
at 10:30 a m. They inspected
farrowing pens for hogs, as well
as other pens, and cattle and
turkeys. Following lunclv at the
city park in Hermiston they went
through the PGG plant, and vis
ited the pellet mill
Those in the group included
Richard Watts, Kurt Gantenbeln,
Chloe McQuaw, Sandra Thorpe,
Roy Obermeier, David Skoubo,
Anna Mae McQuaw, and Pattl,
Jim and Mike Partlow.
