After the regular meeting of
Bunchgrass R e b e k a h lodge
I nursday evening, Dec 4, a social
hour and program were given in
honor of Mr and Mrs Wate Craw
ford in honor of the 5t0h wedding
anniversary which they recently
celebrated. For the program with
Mrs Ernest Heliker In charge,
Donald Heliker sang Love's Old
Sweet Song; Mrs Omar Rietmann
gave a reading, Ma'g Tools; a
series of a tableaus were given
to represent notable couples as
George and Martha Washington;
Ruben and Racheal an Indian
couple; Cinderella and prince
charming; the couples in the
songs, When You and I Were
Young Maggie; Put on Your Old
Grey Bonnet and A Bicycle Built
for Two. Donald Heliker sang
appropriate songs for the tab
leaus. Mrs Cleo Drake was the
accompanist. While the wedding
march was played, Mr and Mrs
Crawford were seated by the son
and daughter-in-law, Mr and Mrs
Arthur Crawford and presented
them with a gift from the lodge ,
by Mrs Heliker, noble grand. She
also read a poem in their honor.
Refreshments were served
from a table covered with a
cloth trimmed with gold, gold
bells and a center piece of yellow
mums and candles.
Mrs Anna Llndstrom and Mrs
E R Lundell . poured, Mrs Mary
Swanson presided at the punch
bowl and Mrs Heliker and Mrs
Arvilla Swanson served the little
cakes. The hostesses were Mrs
Wallace Matthews, Mrs David
Rietmann and Mrs Berl Akers.
Those having charge of the pro
gram were Mrs Heliker, Mrs
Omar Rietmann and Mrs Paul
Pettyjohn.
Pvt Roy Lindstrom and Pvt
Arthur Lindstrom, sons of Mr and
Mrs Franlkin Lindstrom who are
in the army, are stationed at
Fort Ord, Calif. Pvt Rudy Berg
strom, son of Mr and Mrs E
Wm Bergstrom Is stationed at
Fort Hood, Texas. They will all
get a. furlough Dec 19 until
Christmas.
Mrs Fannie Griffith returned
home Monday from Heppner
when she was a patient in the
Pioneer Memorial hospital for
a few days.
Mrs Lewis Ball, Mrs Donald
Ball and Mrs Gerald Rood made
a trip to Pendleton last week.
Mrs Lewis Ball visited at the
Garner Luther home while there.
Mrs Gene Hall entertained the
bridge club at her home Friday
evening of last week. Those re
ceiving prizes were, Mrs Pete
Cannon, high; Mrs Ray Boyce,
2nd high and Mrs Ernest Mc
Cabe, low.
Recent visitors at the' Sam
Esteb home were Mr and Mrs
Raymond Fletcher of Albany, Mr
and Mrs Earl Calkins, Mrs Carl
Calkins and Ernest Calkins of
Otis. Mr and Mrs Esteb took' Mrs
Carl Calkins to Hood River last

ters of Portland. They also at
tended the McCabe Applegate
wedding in Heppner, Nov 29.
Mrs John Sanders and son,
Gregory, and Mrs Mattie Morgan
of Portland were weekend vis
itors at the John Eubanks home.
They took Stanley Sanders back
with them. He had been visiting
at the Eubanks home. Mrs Mor
gan just returned from a trip
into Mexico.
John Howton, son of Mr and
Mrs Lloyd Howton underwent an
operation on his knee at the St
Vincent's hospital in Portland
last week.
Mr and Mrs E Markham Baker
spent last week in Portland
where they attended the Wheat
League. Their daughter, Mardine,
student at the University of Ore
gon, met them in Portland and
spent the weekend there with
them.
Others from here who attended
the Wheat League meeting in
Portland were Lloyd Howton, Mr
and Mrs Louis Carlson, Mr and
Mrs Milton Morgan, Mr and Mrs

The Rebekah Christmas party
at the Rebekah hall Sunday ev
ening was well attended. After
the potluck dinner games were
enjoyed. The hall was decorated
with a Christmas tree and other
decorations. $25.20 was given as
a free will offering to be sent
to the IOOF home in Portland
for Christmas treats.

The extension unit met at the
home of Mrs Louis Carlson Tues
day afternoon, Doe 2. The sub
ject was candle making with Mrs
Carlson and Mrs Herbert Peter
son as leaders. Members brought
wrapped Christmas packages to
the meeting to bo sent to the
nursing home in the Pioneer
Memorial hospital. Mrs Roger
Kincaid received the prize for
having the best wrapped pack
age. There were 14 members
present. The next meeting will
be at the home of Mrs Omar
Rietmann, Jan 8 in the evening
on the subject, Know Your Ore
gon. Mr and Mrs Leonard Carlson
of Portland were visiting rela
tives here last week.
M G Greer was a patient in
the Pioneer Memorial hospital
last week.
Dennis Swanson, son of Mr and
Mrs Garland Swanson, is taking
his ROTC flying training at the
Skyways air base. He is a student
at Portland University. j
Sell Top Bulls
Mr and Mrs Herbert Ekstrom
Sr attended the Mid Columbia
Hereford sale in The Dalles, Dec
2 where they sold two Hereford
bulls. One was a grand champ
ion and the other was the high
est selling bull.
Mr and Mrs Milton Morgan
left Tuesday by plane for Den
ver where they will attend the
National Wheat League. Mr Mor
gan is president of the Morrow
County Wheat League.
Eldon Tucker and Bill Nichols
and son went to the mountains
Sunday and brought back a load
of Christmas trees. Tucker has
trees for sale.
Mr and Mrs Gordon White and
daughter, Lona, were visitors in
Lyle, Wash last week.
