Mr and Mrs Crawford were
married at Lents on December
2, 1908 and moved to this com
munity in 1909 where they have
been engaged in farming. They
moved to lone about eight years
ago.
They have five sons, Vernlce
of Helix; Harlan, Echo; Arthur,
Rollo and Delmer, lone; three
daughters, Mrs John (Ruth)
Voorhees, Portland; Mrs Tad Mil
ler TMelba), Lexington and Mrs

Soroptimists Make
Christmas Plans !
The regular monthly business
meeting of the Soroptlmist club
of Heppner was held Thursday,
noon at O'Donnell's.
It " was announced that gifts ,
would be sent to both Falrvlew'
home and the State hospital this '
year and members are to get
their contributions to Mrs John
Pfeiffer as soon as possible.
The club received a Christmas
package from the Soroptlmist
club of Tamworth England and
it wiy be opened at the annual
Christmas party on December 18
at the home of Mrs Elaine
George.
At this party boxes of home
made candy and cookies will be
packed to be sent to the Veteran's
hospital at Walla Walla and box- j
es of a Christmas dinner will i
be packed to be given to the
elderly men here, without fam
ilies. Initiation is also to be held at
the Christmas party.

To Go Caroling
The Beta Omega chapter of
Epsilon Sigma Alpha held their
monthly business meeting at the
home of Mrs Arthur Crawford,
in lone.
The group plans to go caroling
on the evening of December 17.
Mrs Charles Doherty had charge
of the educational program. The
subject was sports and a test was
given the group. '
Co-hostesses were, Mrs Bill
Rietmann and Mrs Robert Hos-
kins.
4-H Club Nowt
THE HAPPY STITCHERS
The Nov 3 meeting of the
Happy Stitchers club was held
in the home of Mrs L F Leathers.
The leaders discussed, with the
members, their sewing box sup
plies, memory work and work
habits. A game called concen
tration was played. Our hostess
was Pamela Proudfoot.
The Dec 4 meeting was called
to order by president, Berniece
Mathews. Berniece and Deniece
Matthews reported on the officers
meeting held in Heppner. We
have about finished our needle
cases. Eight members were pres
ent. The game "tearable art" was
played and won by Linda Row-
ell. We sang, "I've Got The 4-H
Spirit." Our hostess was Deniece
Mathews.
The next meeting will be held
Dec 19 after school at the home
of Mrs Leathers.
