held Saturday, December 6 at
the Monument high school gym.
Registration will be at 10 a m
with the main speaker being
Henry Alderman, editor of Rural

A birthday dinner was held
Wednesday evening at the
George Stirritt home in honor of
Miss Laura Lee Shank on her
18th birthday. Those present
were, Mr and Mrs Fred Shank,
Bob Porter, Hankie Cupper,
Deanna Leathers, Mr and Mrs
Ed Rounds, Mr and Mrs George
Stirritt and Miss Laura Lee
Shank.
Melvin Rounds and Mr Lang
of Bend were here for the week
end at the Ed Rounds home.
Mr and Mrs Earl Barnard ac
companied Theron King to Pen
dleton for the weekend where
they visited with Mrs King and
son.
Mr and Mrs Ed Rounds spent
last week in Fox visiting her
brother-in-Jaw, Nick Bonifaclch.
Mr and Mrs Fred Shank made
a trip to Bend and Madras on
Thursday and Friday.
Mrs Jennie Gienger and Mrs
Addie Osborne went to lone re
cently with Mrs Ruby Gienger.
They visited relatives and Ruby
went on to Hermiston to see
her mother and to complete her
bus driving tests and have her
physical examination.
Mr and Mrs Taft Sisco and
family, from Gales Creek, Ore
gon visited friends last week on
Cottonwood.
Mr and Mrs Hocker of Red
mond visited friends in this area
last week.
Mr and Mrs Richard Drees and
children and Mr and Mrs Robert
Gienger attended the masqua
rade dance at Long Creek. The
women were dressed as a witch
and a red devil. The Drees fam
ily visited at the Gienger home
Saturday before going to Long
Creek.
Mr and Mrs Henry Martin and
Mrs Jim Croker made a business
trip to John Day Wednesday.
Orville Smith of Vancouver,
Wash, who is auditor for the
Power company, came In the
first of the week for ten days
work here at Columbia Power
Coop.
Jim Crocker made a business
trip to John Day Tuesday, for
his garage and repair shop.
Mr and Mrs Henry Martin
drove to Prineville Thursday on
business for the forest -service.
Mr and Mrs Jack Jewell and
children left the last of the week
to visit his sister in Arizona,
then on to Missouri to visit his
folks.
Mr and Mrs Henry Martin went
to Heppner Thursday evening to
see their first grandchild who
was born Friday morning at 1:34
a m.

ment and Long Creek, announce
the birth of a son, Kevin Lee,
born November 5, at Junction
City. He weighed 7 lb 12 V4 oz.

Prineville announce a son, born
Friday morning at the Heppner
hospital. He weighed 8 lb 11
oz. Mrs Martin is the former Judy
Johnson.
Mr and Mrs Don Wicks and
son of Springfield returned to
their home Tuesday after being
here elk hunting.
Mr and Mrs Melvin Rounds
and two sons of Bend came In
Friday afternoon for the week
end with his folks the Ed Rounds.

spent two days In Portland last
week where Hayes received a
medical checkup.
