to the local members on October

The Mustangs will travel to
Umatilla on Friday afternoon to
tangle with the Umatilla Vikings.
This is an important game, and
those who are free to attend this
game are urged to come and sup
port the team.
Senior pictures have been ta
ken, and the proofs were return
ed at the first of the week. Many
groans were heard, and the big
gest complaint seemed to be that
the pictures looked too much like
the owner! This year contracts
are being drawn up to prevent
any confusion when the pictures
are purchased. A copy of the con
tract goes to Mr Cole, who is
making the senior pictures this
year; the high school keeps a
copy and the student purchasing
the pictures gets a copy.
The Future Homemakers group
of girls, directed by Mrs Homer
Hager, sponsored a turkey dinner
in the school cafeteria on Sun
day, October 19. About 250 meals
were served and comments heard
as people left the dining room
indicated that the meal was a
big success.
ROy R Kirk will represent the
local OEA group at a meeting
of the State Classroom Teachers
group in Eugene this weekend.
The purpose of. this meeting is
to discuss curriculum in the sec
ondary schools. This is the first
vear that this organization hns
directed most of its meeting time
to the secondary level.
Underclassmen will get their
individual pictures taken on
Thursday, October 23. At this
same time the group pictures for
fall activities and for the major
organizations will be taken. Sen
iors will turn in thir orders for
their pictures.
The regular night meeting of
the FBLA this month was used
for selection of new members,
completion of yearbooks for the
organization and the. completion
of plans for entertaining the lo
cal chamber of commerce durinp
the month of November. The
FBLA members have already
purchased Christmas cards to
be used in writing cards for mem
bers of the old folks division of
the local hospital.
In order to have time to hnlrl
special training classes for the
large number of new staff mem
bers on the Hehisch, the paper
has gone on an every-two-weeks
publication schedule until the
end of October. After that the
Hehisch will resume its regular
weekly publication. In the past
there has been a Journalism class
at the high school and class time
has been used in part, to publish
the Hehisch. This year it was
impractical to have the ol ass nnri
this resulted in a loss of over 50
student hours per week of time
tor publication. An unusually
large number of capable stu
dents have been working on the
paper this fall but they need a
little more instruction and prac
tice before being able to go ahead
with the work. We hope that the
public will appreciate this diffi
culty and be able to enjoy the
paper more after the first of
November.
