Over the years you've come to expect your phone calls
to go through swiftly and smoothly. To keep your serv
ice dependable, we make sure our equipment's working
well all along the line. And we've developed lots of
ways to head off trouble before it starts. For instance,
in the maintenance center above, a special line tester
checks thousands of lines in just one hour, lets us
know if anything needs fixing. And this is just one
of many testers, alarms and trouble-spotters that our
people use. In town and out in the country, we guard
your service at all times with watchful eyes.

You don't need anyone to tell you our country
needs to strengthen its Peace Power. You're
reminded of it every time you open your news
paper. And just looking at the children brings
it home to you all the more.
But maybe you think . . . "I'm just one person.
How could I possibly strengthen the country?"
You can help. And help yourself at the same
time ... by saving with U.S. Savings Bonds.
You see, peace costs money. Money for many
