IONE COMMUNITY CHURCH SCENE
OF McKINNEY-McCABE WEDDING

Miss Grac Louise McCabe,
daughter of Mr and Mrs L A
McCabe, became the bride of Le
land O McKinney, son of Mr and
Mrs Earl McKinney Sunday,
June 22 at 4 pm at the lone
Community church. The double
ring ceremony was performed by
Rev Floyd S Bailey, pastor of
the church.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, wore a part nylon
dress over taffeta, a pleated tulle
panel in the skirt front and the
collar and sleeves were edged
In pleated tulle ruffles. The dress
was white with bouffant skirt.
The collar was worn by the
bride's grandmother, Mrs Ar
thur Keene and by her great
grandmother, Mrs AnnaMitchell
Campbell. It was 95 years old,
hand made with punch work em
broidery. Her finger tip veil was
held by a pill box head piece
trimmed with pearls and se
quins. She carried a white Bible
and a white orchid.
The matron of honor was her
sister, Mrs James Pettyjohn and
the brides maids were Mrs Alvin
McCabe, the bride's sister-in-law
and Miss Kay" Sherer. They all
wore blue polished cotton dress
es with matching velvet sashes
and with matching knit head
pieces and carried blue daisy
nosegays. The matron or hon
or's nosegay had blue and yel
low daisies. The flower girls were
Christine McCabe, sister of the
bride, and Linda Pettyjohn, niece
of the bride. They wore blue
dresses and carried blue daisy
nosegays. Earl James Pettyjohn,
nephew of the bride, wsa the
ring bearer.

year of her birth in her shoe.
Mrs Keith Rea and Miss Mar
dine Baker were the candle
lighters. They wore yellow pol
ished cotton dresses with match
ing head pieces of net with white
Esther Reed daisies and match
ing velvet sashes.
The altar flowers in the church
were yellow gladioli, and yellow
and blue daisies. There were also
baskets of white daisies and blue
delphinium about the church.

dress of blue and rose with
match accessories. They both
had corsages of pink rose buds.

cake was first cut by the bridal

groom, Mrs Arthur Keene, grand

bride.

Riifrpips and Mrs Fred Cole, both
grandmothers of the groom; at
the punch bowl were Mrs Roy
Campbell, great anut of the bride

cake was served by Mrs Orville
Ruggles, aunt of the groom, Mrs

the gift table; Arleta McCabe

of the bride, had charge of the

Mrs Earl McCabe had cnarge
of the reception assisted by Mrs
Howard Eubanks, Mrs Ernest
McCabe and Mrs Raymond Lun
dell. Those assisting about the
rooms were Anne Belle Coleman,

dell. For going away the bride chose
a pink and white striped sheath
dress with white accessories and
her orchid.

At a recent meeting of the
Morrow County Cow Belles held
at the Elks lounge, the lollowing
committees were appointed by
president, Mrs Gerald Swaggart;
Mrs George Rugg, dues commit
tee; Mrs Nels Anderson, beef
promotion committee; Mrs Ro
bert Brindle, fair booth. Each
committee chairman will appoint
two assistants for the committee.
Mrs John Graves has been
named State beef promotion
chairman.

and Teddy Turner.
Mrs Claud White, past presi
dent, was presented a gift of
cowbell earrings and necklace

Robinson gave a reading and
there were two written quizzes.

Sunday Picnic Honors
John Kennys On
45th Anniversary
In honor of their 45th wedding
anniversary, Mr and Mrs John
Kenny, of Heppner were surpris
ed with a potluck picnic held on
the court house lawn in Hepp
ner, June 22.
Mr and Mrs Kenny were mar
ried in Pendleton, June 23, 1913,
at St Mary's Catholic church.
They were attended by Mrs John
Keegan, sister of Mrs Kenny and
James Kenny, who Is now de
ceased, brother of Mr Kenny.
Original members of the wed
ding party 45 years ago, present
at the reunion, were Mrs John
Healy, sister of Mr Kenny and
Mrs Keegan.
Mr Kenny was born and raised
in Morrow county and Mrs Kenny
was born in County Lietrim, Ire
land and came to this country
at the age of 16.
Mr and Mrs Kenny have lived
on the same ranch in he Sand
hollow district for the past 45
years. They are parents of seven
children and grandparents of 18.
The children include Eddie, Spo
kane, Wash., Matt, Portland;
Ilene Richards, Areata, Calif;
Emmet, Pendleton; James, Her
miston; Patricia Erwin, Pendle
ton and Bill of Heppner. All were
present with the exception of
Mr and Mrs Bill Richards (Ilene)
and children, JoAnn,, Jennifer
Kenny and Nancy, who were un
able to attend.

Awards at Rainbow
Grand Assembly
Rainbow for Girls held their
state grand assembly June 15
17 in Albany with Carol Hope
man, grand worthy advisor, pre
siding. Attending from Ruth as
sembly, Heppner, were Marlene
Griffin Phyllis Quackenbush,
Jean Marie Damon, Meredith
Thomson, Nancy Slocum, Mrs
Claude Graham, Mrs Jim Thom
son, and Mrs Roy Quackenbush.
Meredith Thomson was elect
ed grand treasurer to serve the
state for the coming year.
Phyllis Quackenbush served
this past year as grand repre
sentative to North Carolina. Nan
cy Slocum was a member of the
grand choir at the 1958 session.
Heppner placed second in the
service cup award and brought
home a trophy. Milton-Freewater
placed first and LaGrande was
third. The award is based on
community service.
Grand Cross of Color degree
was conferred upon five of the
group. The Grand Cross of Color
is given in recognition of dis
tinguished services rendered in
behalf of the Order of the Rain
bow Girls. Those receiving the
