The high school seniors waited
until school was out to take
their sneak day. Mr and Mrs
Jim Stirwalt accompanied them
on a trip through Mexico. The
three to go were Charlie Wil
liams, John Taylor and Lulua
Stirwalt. Mary Vinson t Corley
was unable to go.'
Mrs Verne McCarty was a pa
tient in the Heppner.-. hospital
for surgery. She returned home
June 5.
Mrs Roy Bowman and four
children drove, to Dayton, Wash
ington and spent a week with
Roy. They found a house and
will be moving June 14. .
Mrs Bob Kimbiling and two
sons of Prairie City met hex sis
ter, Mrs Joe Miller and three
children at Lon Creek on Sun
day. They all drove to Dayton
to look for housing as Joe is
working there at the Broadfoot
mill. They also visited another
sister and family, the Victor
Wiese family at Milton-Free-water
and in Heppner they visi
ted at the Stanley Cox home,

returned to Monument Friday af
ternoon. Mrs Kimbiling visited
with her parents,' Mr and Mrs
Lee Fleming and returned to her
home in Prairie City, on Satur-.

The Community of Monument
was saddened Saturday evening
by the news of the death of
Rex: Svvpek at the Heppner hos
pital. Mr and Mrs Ed Rounds were
in Fossil Friday evening. Mrs
Rounds-"" accompanied her son
Melvin and family to Portland
for a few days.
Martha and Dale Matteson re
turned from Portland Thursday
evening where she had been
going through the clinic. She
will return to Portland this week
for -surgery and treatments.
Mrs Bob Kingman of Alturas,
California visited her father El
mer Matteson on Wednesday,
June 4. She returned to her home
on June 5 taking her nephew
Robert Dale Scott home with
her for a months visit.
The Stanley Boyer family have
moved from the house next to
the store- to down one block to
the house they have purchased
from Deb Stubblefields.
Mr and Mrs Pete Slocum of
The Dalles are visiting his cou
sins, Lee and Gerald Slocum for
a few days.
Mr and Mrs Sam Scott spent
the weekend at Long Creek.
Mrs Margaret Morrow of Long
Creek, Mrs Jessie Scott and Mrs
Elmer Matteson of Monument
left. Tuesday morning for Port
land for dental and surgery ap
