Notes 60th Birthday
Bunchgrass Rebekah lodge
celebrated their 60th anniversary
at a meeting Thursday evening,
May 15. Letters were read from
Mrs Ella Davidson, Mrs Lana
Padberg and Mrs Clara Kincaid,
members of the lodge, telling of
the early days of the lodge.
Group singing was enjoyed and
Mrs Ernest Heliker, Noble Grand,
presented bouquets to Mrs Delia
Corson, who has been a member
of the lodge for the most years
and one to Mrs Lewis Ball, a
member for the least years. Re
freshments were served by Mrs
Cecil Thome, Mrs Cleo Drake
and Mrs Echo Palmateer.
A cake made and decorated by
Mrs Thome was served. It was
decorated in the Rebekah colors,
pink and green, with the num
erals 1898 and 1958.
Elks Have Dance
And Smorgasbord
Last Saturday Evening a
smorgasbord was enjoyed by
members of Heppner Elks lodge
and their wives at the Elks tern
pie. Dancing to the orchestra of
Wayne McGuffin followed the
smorgasbord.

Honors Senior Girls
At Sunday Tea
The home of Miss Leta Hum
phreys was the scene Sunday
afternoon of the annual tea giv
en by Soroptimist International
of Heppner, honoring the grad
uating senior girls and their
mothers.
Mrs Clara B Gertson welcom
ed the guests and introduced
the program which included a
piano selection by Joanne
Schmidt, a reading by Carol
Anne Anderson and selections
by a flute trio, Linda Valentine,
Judy Schmidt and Laura Lee
Sumner, accompanied by Jeanne
Schmidt. The program was ar
ranged by Mrs John Pfeiffer.
As is traditional a snapshot,
taken by Miss Leta Humphreys,
of each girl and her mother was
presented to the guests. The
girls also received corsages of
pink rosebuds.

Buffet Supper Given
Sunday For Seniors
The 1958 graduating class of
Heppner high school and their
parents were honored at a buffet
supper Sunday evening after the
Baccalaureate service at the
Christian church.
The room mothers, Mrs George
Currin and Mrs Al Fetsch were
in charge of the supper, assisted
by all the mothers.
Mrs Joe Stewart poured and
Mrs Roy Kirk served the punch
from a table covered with a
white cloth and centered with a
mixed bouquet of spring flowers.
