Frank Jepsen and Dallas Rea.
were chosen as delegates to
Beaver Boys State in June at
Corvallis by the members of the
American Legion post at the
meeting Tuesday evening of last
week. Paul Pettyjohn Jr was
chosen as an alternate. Frank
is a member of the annual, the
Ionian, and Dallas-is very active
in football, basketball and track.
The boys are all juniors in the
lone high school, and are select
ed on recommendation of student
bodies and school officials on
the basis of character, service,
leadership and serious attitude
toward an intensive citizenship
training program. Although the
Legion makes the final select
ion of the boys. Frank is the
son of Mr and Mrs Walter Jep
sen, Dallas the son of Mr and
Mrs Clell Rea and Paul the son
of Mr and Mrs Paul Pettyjohn.
Lt LeRoy Brenner left for Reno
Nev last week after spending his
leave with his parents, Mr and
Mrs C E Brenner. He will take
training there for a few weeks.
Kenneth Brenner and Donald
Eubanks took him to Reno.
Guests last week at the.MG
Greer home were Mr and Mrs
Percy Lytton, and Mr and Mrs
Forrest Buroker and children,
Lynn and Mike, of Walla Walla
and Mr and Mrs Ralph Rich
mond and family of Heppner.
Mr Lytton is a brother of Mrs
Greer.
Truman Cannon of Portland
visited at the home of his bro
ther, Pete Cannon Sunday. He
also visited his mother, Mrs Ada
Cannon in Heppner.
Mrs C E Brenner was elected
president of the American Leg
ion auxiliary Unit 95 at a meet
ing Tuesday afternoon May 6 at
the Legion hall. Other officers
elected were: Mrs Earl McCabe,
1st vice president; Mrs Joe
Gaarsland, 2nd vice president;
Mrs Walter Corley, secretary
treasurer; Mrs G Hermann,
Chaplain; Mrs Echo Palmateer,
historian and Mrs Eldon Tucker,
sergeant-at-arms. Mrs Brenner
and Mrs Corley were also elect
ed as delegates to the state con
vention in Astoria in June. Al
ternates elected were Mrs John
Eubanks and Mrs Gordon White.
At the meeting conducted by
Mrs Cecil Thorne, president, Mrs
White gave a reading on Hondur
as, letters were read from state
congressmen concerning the leg
islation on hospitals, hospital
