ember 29 at All Saints' Episcopal
church in Heppner.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, wore a white im
ported chantilly lace over satin
gown, waltz length with long
sleeves and V neckline trimmed
with sequins and pearls. Her
shoulder length veil was held in
place by a tiara trimmed with
sequins. She carried a white
Prayer Book with a white orchid
or sometning old she wore
peal earrings belonging to her
mother, her gown was something
new, for something borrowed she
wore the veil belonging to Mrs
3ary Knight and for something

from Mrs Stephen Thomspon and
Mrs Lloyd McRae, both of Pendle

For traveling, on a honeymoon
along the Oregon Coast, the bride
wore a red wool sheath dress
with a jacket trimmed with black
fur collar, black accessories and
her white orchid.
They will be at home at 2802
Spruce St, La Grande, where they
are both attending Eastern Ore
gon College where the bride is a
junior and the groom working for
his Master Degree.

In Recent Ceremony
Mr and Mrs Noel Dobyns of
lone announce the marriage of
their dalghter, Dorothy Grace, to
Dr Joseph Frank Kalister, son of
Mr and Mrs Joe Kalister of Fron
tier, Wyoming.
The simple ceremony was per
formed Saturday afternoon, De
cember 28 at the Oberlin Comm
unity Congregational church in
Steilacoon, Washington, with Rev
Lawrence Dassett officiating.
The members of the Dassett
family are close friends of Hie
bride and her parents.
The bride, given in marriage by
her father, wore a casual knit
suit of pastel yellow and carried
a white orchid on a bride's Bible.
Her attendant was her aunt, Mrs
Gilbert V Crumb of Morton, Wash
ington. The best man was the
groom's uncle, Frank Urabeck of
Seattle.
Preceeding the ceremony, Rich
ard Dassett sang "I Love you
Truly" and "Oh Promice Me", ac
companied by Mrs Lawrence Das
sett on the organ.
The double ring ceremony was
read before an altar flanked by
candelabra and tall baskets of
white chrysanthemums.
I After the ceremony a dinner
was held at the Gay 90's restau
rant in Tacoma.
Following a short trip the bride
returned to Pacific University
where she is a junior and the
groom returned to Fort Ord, Cal
ifornia where he is serving in the
U S Army.
Those attending the wedding

in marriage at 4 p m December
22 at the lone Community church
with Dr Paul A Davies of Port
land officiating, assisted by Rev
Lloyd S Bailey.
The bride given in marriage at
the double ring ceremony by her
father, wore a white Chantilly
lace and tulle gown over satin
trimmed in pearls and sequins.
Her illusion net fingertip veil was
held in place by a lace pillbox
hat with pearls and sequins. She
carried a Cattleya orchid surr
ounded by bouvardia on her
Theta Nu Alpha Bible.
"The matron of honor, Mrs Keith
Rea, sister of the bride, wore a
short red embroidered taffeta
dress with capped sleeves with
matching headpiece of net and
carried a cascading bouquet of
candy stripe carnations with
white frosted bells. The brides
maids were Miss Marilyn Gould
of Mt Vernon, Wash, and Miss
Pat Tlrrell of Madras. They wore
dresses and carried bouquets
identical to the matron of honor.
The flower girls were Joyce and
Jackie Howton, sisters of the
bride. They wore white taffeta
formals with red taffeta sashes
and carried bouquets of candy
striped carnations. Mack David
son was the ring bearer. The best
man was Alan Davidson of Hills-
boro and the ushers were Dalt
Davidson of Forest Grove, Merv
Cooper of Enunclow, Wash all
fraternity brothers of the groom
and John Howton, brother of the
bride. The candle lighters were
Jimmy Howton, .brother of the
bride and Gene Campbell, cousin
of the bride.
The church was decorated in
white carnations, snapdragons
and snow flake mums with
Christmas greens. Miss Karen
Lundell was the organist and
Clair Ugelstad of Brightenwood
sang, The Wedding Prayer and
Because.
The mother of the bride wore a
gray beige dress with matching
accessories and cypripedium or
chids and the groom's grand
mother, Mrs Maude Agee of Mil
waukie, wore a rose beige dress
with matching accessories and
cymbidium orchids.
A reception followed in the
church parlor. After the bride and
groom cut the first piece of the

four tiered cake the remainder
was served by Mrs John Camp
bell of Connell, Wash, Mrs Glenn
Campbell, of Echo, and Mrs
Claude Campbell of Warden,
Wash, all aunts of the bride;
The coffee was served by Mrs
Lon Etter, great aunt of the bride
of Pilot Rock and Mrs John Shl
mek, aunt of the bride of Lind,
Wash. Mrs Bessie Humphrey of
Pilot Rock, great-aunt of the bride
and Mrs Orval Agee, Milwaukee,
aunt of the groom presided at the
punch bowl. Miss Sharon Camp
bell of Warden, Wash, cousin of
the bride, had charge of the
guest book and Miss Dorothy Dob
yns and Miss Jean Ann Swanson,
both of lone had charge of the
gifts. Connie Campbell of Conn
ell, Wash, cousin of the bride ser
ved the groom's cake and the
candle lighters gave out the rice
sachets.
For going away the bride chose
a royal blue suit with brown acc
eccories with a beige coat.
The couple will make their
home in Rainier where the groom
is a coach in the elementary
school. He is a graduate of Pacific
University and was in the armed
service in Europe and then took
a year of advanced elementary
work at Pacific. The bride is a
graduate in the lone schools and
will graduate from Pacific Uni
versity in January. She is a mem.

bow Girls honored Miss "Phyllis
Quackenbush, grand representee
for Oregon to the State of North
Carolina, with a reception at the
I O O F hall in Heppner on Sat
urday, December 21. The grand
chapter of Oregon appoints one
Rainbow Girl to correspond with
another Rainbow Girl in each
state of the union. The reception
was followed by the chapter's an
nual Snowball Formal, also held
at the I 0 0 F hall.
Introduced and escorted to the
East at the reception were Mrs
James Cartwright, mother adviser
of the Umatilla chapter; Miss
Pamela Bateman, grand repre
sentative to the state of Maine,
of the Umatilla chapter; Mrs Har
old Becket, sub-deputy for the
Rainbow Girls in Oregon; and
Miss Quackenbushi
Introduced were Miss Meredith
Thomson, past grand representa
tive to the state of Florida, and
past worthy adviser, and Miss
Barbara Warren, past worthy ad
viser. The program consisted of a read
ing "Learning to Drive an Auto
mobile" by Miss Sandra Jones;
and an addenda summarizing the
seven steps in Miss Quacken
bush's Rainbow career from the
time she was initiated until her
appointment as grand represent
ative. Taking part in the addenda
were Misses Janice Beamer, Nan
cy Slocum, Sharon Case, Susan
McQuarrie, Celia Boulden, Judy
Cochell and Marlene Griffin, with
Janice Martin at the piano. Miss
Quackenbush was presented with
a gift.
Refreshments were served at
the close of the evening with
Mrs Howard Bryant acting as
committee adviser and Miss Jan
ice Beamer, chairman for the
Rainbow Girls. Mrs L D Tibbies
was committee adviser for dec
orations and Miss Judie Spauld
ing was chairman for the Rain
bow Girls.
At the annual Snowball Formal
following the reception, Miss
Helen Graham was crowned
Queen with Misses Nancy Slo
cum, Judy Cochell, and Sandra
Jones selected Princesses. These
girls are chosen for their year's
work in the chapter and for at
tendance at the meetings.
Lyle Jenson, who is attending
Molar's Barber College in Port
land, was at the home of his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lincoln
Nash for Christmas Day, Pat
Baseel of St. Helen's was also
a guest at the Nash home.

and familly spent Christmas at
