We were brought Into the
Christmas spirit Tuesday as soph
omores put up the seasonal deco
rations. Many classrooms also
feature different Christmas scen
es. All students are anxiously
awaiting the arrival of pictures
ordered last month. This is espec
l?lly true of the senoirs. Annual
staff members are also getting
anxious for they must have the
pictures before they can start on
page make up. The business staff
of the annual Is completing the
advertising campaign while they
wait for the pictures.'
Teachers are really requiring
work here just before the holi
days. With tests, regular assign
ments, ball games, paper and
annual staff meetings, activities
and Christmas shopping one
might say that the HHS students
are busy.
Christmas boughs were arrang
ed on the stringing wires by FBLA
members last Saturday and these
have now been further decorated
with lights and strung over the
downtown streets. They are very
attractive.
Plans are underway in most
school groups for the Christmas
holiday activities. Among the
listed activities are: school Christ
mas party, student council danca;
annual party given for the seniors
who won the sales contest, FBLA
Christmas plans for hospital pa
tients, caroling and the Christ
mas music concert. In prepara
tion for the latter both the band
instruments and the vocal chords
of the students are getting good
workouts.
Pep assemblies at school have
proved successful, but attend
ance at games has been poor.
Let's face it! Half of the ball
game is in sportsmanship some
thing we can't have unless there
is support. Both adults and stu
dents should attend the games
and yell along with our cheer
leaders. Their job is to lead us,
and ours is to follow them. See
ya all at the games Friday and
Saturday when we play at Con
don, with Sisters and Culver.
Let's really show them what
Heppner can do!!
Christmas shopping is now be
coming a reality to most of us,
and all in all have decided that
this will probably be a credit
Xmas or one on the installment
plan!
The teenage traffic conference
will be held Thursday at Pilot
Rock. Attending from Heppner are
Dick Ruhl Ronny Gray, Connie
Anderson, Bill Irby, and Janice
Beamer.
Many Alumni are expected
home, one of which visited us
here Monday. Mike Grant who
will soon be stationed in Germ
any for 2 years, was welcomed by
HHS students, and he chatted
with many of us about such
tilings as our future, his experi
ences, and news of school.
Since no snow has arrived, we
fear Santa will come "A Rocking
and A Rolling" with Jingle Bells
and all, into Heppner this year.
Don't think just the young ones
write letters to Santa! A letter
box will be put in the hall, to
the disposal of all students These
will be read at our Christmas
party, by old St. Nick himself!
Bet he never got letters like these
before! ! Also, exchanging of gifts
will take place, and as a final
highlight some group singing
with all High School Students
participating. -Calendar
