lone Auxiliary Aids Gilt Shop

The American Legion auxiliary
met at the home of Mrs. John
Eubanks Tuesday evening, Nov.
19 with Mrs. Howard Eubanks as
co-hostess. Several articles were
brought to the meeting to be sent
to the Gift Shop at the Veteran's
hospital in Portland for Chrisf
mas gifts. The unit is asking for
old nylon hose again this year
to be sent to Camp White for the
veterans to make into rugs.
Games were played at the meet
ing and Mrs. Gordon White and
Mrs. Edith Nichoson received the
special prizes.
Ed Buschke of Morgan has been
visiting his daughter Mrs. Jose
phine Ries of Lebanon.
Visitors last week at the Ray
Barnett home were Mr. and Mrs.
David Barnett and children and
Mrs. Fern Graves of Heppner.
Funeral services were held for
Mrs. Elsie Marie Petersen Friday
afternoon Nov. 22 at the lone
Community church with Rev.
Floyd S. Bailey officiating. Leon
ard Munkers and Donald Hatfield
sang and Mrs. C. C. Carmichael
was the organist. The pall bear
ers were George Bye, Carl Ny
gaard, Ernest Christopherson,
Glenn Ball, Donald Heliker and
C. C. Carmichael. Creswick Mort
uary had charge of the arrange
ments. Interment was in the Lex
ington cemetery.
Relatives and friends attending
the services from a distance were:

ied by Mrs. Lloyd Howton, and
singing by the choir led by Joe
Hausler and accompanied by Mrs.
Bill Rietmann.
The Arnica club met at the
home of Mrs. Delmer Crawford
Wednesday afternoon Nov. 20
with Mrs. A. A. Stefani as co
hostess. After the business meet
ing hearts were played and those
receiving prizes were Mrs. Dallas
Shockley, high; Mrs. Roy Lind
strom, low and Mrs. Adon Ham
lett, the door prize. Plans were
made for the Christmas party.
Mrs. Hattie Crabtree of Salem
is visiting relatives here.
Mr. and Mrs. John Sanders and
sons of Portland visited her sist
er and family, Mr. and Mrs. John
Eubanks over the weekend. Mr.
Sanders has been here elk hunting.
Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Ekstrom
and son Roland, were recent visit
ors in Portland.
Mrs. Delia Corson spent last
week iu Portland. She was ac
companied by Miss Opal Briggs of
Heppner.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles O'Connor,
Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Halvorsen and
Mrs. James Lindsay attended
friendship night of the Eastern
Star in Arlington Monday even
ing of last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Dobyns,
Mr. and Mrs. Noel Dobyns and
Mr. and Mrs. Earl McKlnney re
turned home last week from the
Hawaiian Islands. They went on
the Oregon Grange Bulletin tour
and spent a week on the Island of
Oahu. The took the circle island
tour, the Mt. Tantalus tour, at
tended a luau and many other
places of interest. They made the
trip both ways on the plane.
Mrs. Gordon White recently at
tended the district conference of
the Infantile paralysis founda
tion in Portland. She was the rep
resentative from Morrow county.
There were representatives from
Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Mon
tana and Alaska.
