CONSTITUTION
Notice is hereby given that an
election will be held in School
Districts 10, 25, 35cj, 40, lcj, andl
12, of Morrow County, State of.Storro Bros., Courthouse
Oregon, on May 10, 1957. The
election will begin at 2:00 P. M.,
and will be held in the school
house in each of said component
districts. The purpose of sub-
amount limited by Section 11,
Article XI, of the Constitution of
! Oregon.
The reasons for increasing such
levy are:
1. The low tax base due to
the fact that some districts lost
their base entirely and others
could only be increased by the
legal, allowed 6 per year. 2.
Increased cost in maintaining
buildings and making needed
repairs. 3. Increases in teach-
ers salaries. 4. High cost of
supplies and equipment and re-
pairs to some of our older build-
ings. 5. The purchase of three
new busses for District 35c1.
The total base of all Districts
in Morrow Countv Rural School
District is $154,074.94.
The amount of tax. in excess of
6 limitation, proposed to be
levied for said fiscal vear is
$305,576.63.

good for 1957 wheat crop prices
to run somewhat higher than the
government support price,
Former wheat acres shifted
into the Soil Bank and subsidized
exports are bolstering the wheat
price picture, M. D. Thomas states
in the current issue of OSC's
"Agricultural Situation and Out
look" circular. Copies of the cir
cular are available from county
extension service offices.
The coming wheat crop, both
nationally and in the Northwest,
is not likely to be large enough
to meet domestic needs and ex
ports in the year ahead, accord
ing to current crop forecasts. This
points to prices high enough to
continue bringing government
wheat out of storage as has been
the case with soft white wheat
in recent months, says the econo
mist. The kind, location and amount
of wheat exported varies con
siderably with government ex
port payment rates fixed dally
by the commodity stabilization
service in Washington, D. C.
Changes in these rates are diffi
cult to predict in the present un
settled world wheat picture and
add to the uncertainties in wheat
marketing, Thomas states.
During the current season,
Northwest wheat exports may
reach 175 million bushels. The
economist explains that exports
of more than 100 million bushels
from the region in the season
ahead would come close to
cleaning out supplies here. But
he thinks the crest of the subsi
dized exports may be past and
that regional exports may drop
back toward the 1955-56 ship
ments of 63 million bushels.
