Visit Pendleton
Sans Souci Robekah made a
visitation to the Pauline Rebe
kah lodge of Pendleton Thursday,
March 21 when six new members
were initiated.
The traveling gavel was pre
sented to the Pendletn lodge by
the Hermiston lodge.

Carnation Club To
Bake Birthday
Cake For Hospital
The Carnation club met at the
home of Mrs. John Bergstrom last
Thursday evening.
Plans were completed for a
food sale, which was held Saturday.
Members volunteered to bake
birthday cakes for the elderly
patients at the hospital.

Duplicate Club
The Duplicate Bridge club met
at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Lowell Gribble.
High partners were Mrs. Rich
ard Meador and Tom Wilson,
second high, were Mrs. Wilson
and Dr.. Wallace Wolff.

ington was married Saturday,
March 23 at the Evangelical Uni
ted Brethren church in that city
to Russell Taylor, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Ray Taylor of Heppner.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, was gowned in a
white net floor length dress with
train and wore a shoulder length
net and lace veil, held in place
with a cornet headdress. She
carried an arm bouquet of white
flowers. Her sister, Mrs. James
Kerstedter, matron of honor was
dressed in a pale yellow baller
ina length gown and carried a
yellow nosegay. The bridesmaid,

nosegay. The best man was
Emery J. Settles, formerly of
Heppner. Ushers were James
Kerstedter, a brother-in-law of
the bride, Ralph Taylor, brother
of the groom and Gene Settles,
cousin of the bride.
Tall baskets of spring flowers
and candreabra decorated the
altar.
The mother of the bride was
gowned in pale blue with white
accessories and the mother of
the groom wore a purple suit
dress with white accessories.
Guests from the Heppner area
who attended the wedding were
Ralph Taylor, Lloyd Harshman,
Jr., Miss Fern Graves, Miss Opal
Briggs, aunt of the groom, and
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Taylor of Pilot
Rock, and Mrs. Ray Taylor.
The bride is a graduate of a
Vancouver high school and has
been employed at a bank at
Hazeldell. The groom graduated
from Heppner high school and Is
completing an enlistment in the
U. S. Navy.
The couple will reside near San
Francisco until the groom is dis
charged from the service this
summer.

daughter Tracy were Pasco visi
tors Wednesday and Thursday of
last week at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Doug Macauley.

The Morrow county Gem and
Mineral Society met at the John
Newman shop on Tuesday, March
19 and Hubert Wilson gave a lec
ture on the three classes of rock
formation, igneous, which Is
formed rock; sedimentary, mas
ses of rocks cemented together
and Metamorphic, rocks born of
heat and pressure.
Walter Edger gave a lecture
on tlie various tests which may
be given a mineral to determine
where it belongs on the hardness
scale.
Mrs. Clifford Wagner showed
two -films, "Crocodile Thrills"
and "Davy's Locker."
A field trip is scheduled by the
group to the John Day area on
Sunday, March 31.
Refreshments were served at
the close of the evening.

Observes Birthday
The birthday of the Beta Omega
Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha
was celebrated at the Legion hall
Wednesday evening March 20.
Each member brought a gift
which was exchanged and games
were played. A large cake was
served which was baked and
decorated by Mrs. Irene Leathers.
It Was in the sorority colors blue
and gold.
Those present on the social
committee were Mrs. Rosetta
Palmateer, Mrs. Eileen Padberg,
Mrs. Betty Rietmann, Mrs. Mari

WSCS Circle Names
New Officers
The W. S. C. S. Circles of the
Methodist church met Tuesday
evening and Wednesday after
noon of last week.
Tuesday night, members of the
evening circle met at the home
of Mrs. Myles Martin with Mrs.
Anne Smouse as co-hostess. Mrs.
Walter Ruggles was elected presi
dent; Mrs. Lincoln Nash, secretary-treasurer.
Mrs. Lester Boul
den gave a report on Asia. Eigh
teen were present.
A Wednesday afternoon meet
ing was held in the church base
ment and selected the name "Ad
rial" for their group, meaning
"Flock of God". Mrs. Victor Krei
meyer was program chairman for
discussion of the topic, How to
be Christian wives and mothers.
Mrs. Norman Peters read the
scripture. Mrs. L. L. Robbins and
Mrs. Lucille Owens were hostes
ses. Susanna Circle met Wednesday
afternoon at the home of Mrs.
N. D. Bailey and everyone parti
cipated In the program by giving
an article on missionary work or
religion. Mrs. Al Troedson con
ducted a Bible quiz. The hostess
served refreshments.
The sub-district Blue Moun
tain meeting is being held to-
day (Thursday) at the Methodist
church with Mrs. Blaine Isom of
Pendleton, president, in charge.
Registration started at 9:30 a. m.
this morning.
