Double Ring Ceremony
Unites Boardman

I Miss Carol Ann Hamilton,
J daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil
Hamilton, became the bride of
Larry Everett Thorpe, son of Mr.
I and Mrs. Nathan Thorpe, in a
double-ring ceremony at 8 p. m.
SNov. 30, at the Community
' church. The candlelight service
i was performed by the Rev. A. E.
i Davis, pastor of the Methodist
church, . Hermitson, before the
altar decorated with baskets of
yellow and white chrysanthe
mums. Mrs. John Partlow sang "I Love
You Truly and "Always", ac
companied by Mrs. Lowell Shat
tuck, who also played the wed
ding marches.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, was lovely in a
waltz length gown of ivory bro
caded taffeta, fashioned with
three-quarter sleeves and scal
loped V-shaped neckline. Her
finger tip veil was held in place
with orange blossoms. It was
borrowed from Mrs. Harold Mar
low, who wore it at her wedding
Just a year ago. The bride wore
rhinestone necklace and earrings,
and carried a nosegay of white
carnations.
Something old was her neck
lace, something new her gown.
She wore a blue garter made and
presented to her by the groom's
mother. She had a penny in her
shoe which was minted the year
of her birth.
Miss Lorelei Hamilton, sister of
the bride, was maid of honor, and
Miss Marie Potts was bridesmaid.
They wore identical frocks of
turquoise taffeta and carried
nosegays of yellow chrysanthe
mums. Teresa Thorpe, sister of the
groom, was flower girl, and the
candlelighters were Sandra
Thorpe, sister of the groom, and
Alberta Carpenter, cousin of the
bride. All three wore frocks of
yellow taffeta.
Bill Thorpe, brother of the
groom, was best man, and Jim
Thorpe, brother of the groom, was
usher.
Following the ceremony a re
ception was held in the grange
hall, with about 75 guests at
tending. The two-tiered cake,
topped by bridal figurines, cen
tered a lace-covered table, while
the punch and coffee were served
from a separate lace-covered

Dinner Party Held At
R. Thompson Home
Mr. and Mrs Ralph Thompson
were hosts at a dinner party, Sun
day at their Willow Creek home.
Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Mer
vin Leonard, Mr. and Mrs. Garnet
Barratt, Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Tur
ner and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bed
ford. mums were used about the room.
After the first piece of cake was
cut by the couple it was cut and
served by Mrs. Bob Smith of
Baker, aunt of the groom. Mrs.
Delbert Carpenter poured the
coffee, and Mrs. Glen Carpenter
served at the punch bowL Mrs.
Ed Kunze was in charge of the
reception, assisted by Mrs. Claud
Coats, Mrs. Elvin Ely, Mrs. Frank
Marlow, Mrs. Arthur Allen, Mrs.
Charles Anderegg, Mrs. Don
Downey and Mrs. Bobby Stewart.
Mrs. Lammert Fritzen, Moses
Lake, Wash., aunt of the bride,
was in charge of the guest book.
The gifts were opened by the
bridal couple.
For her daughter's wedding
Mrs. Hamilton wore a turquoise
faille dress with brown hat. The
bridegroom's mother wore a dress
of black metalic taffeta, with
turquoise hat. Both had cor
sages of bronze chrysanthemums.
The corsages and those presented
to members of the reception com
mittee were all made by the
groom's mother, assisted by Mrs.
Rollin Bishop and Mrs. Nate Ma
comber. For going away the bride wore
a black suit with turquoise hat.
Her corsage was from her bridal
bouquet.
Both the bride and groom are
graduates of Boardman high
school. The bride was a student
nurse at Providence hospital in
Portland the past year, and Is
now employed at the Good Shep
herd hospital in Hermiston. The
groom is also employed in Her
miston. After a short- trip they
are living at 501 "E" street Her
miston. Among those from out of town
for the wedding were M. and Mrs.
Lammert Fritzen, Moses Lake,
Wash., uncle and aunt of the
bride; Mrs. Paul Smith, Union,
grandmother of the groonrr and
Mr .and Mrs. Bob Smith, uncle
and aunt of the groom, and Linda
and Roger Smith, cousins, all of
Baker.

Meets Thursday
The Soroptimist club met
Thursday noon at O'DonneU's
with no planned program but
there were many Christmas greet
ings to read and final plans were
made for the teenage party which
was given by the Elks Friday
night.
The Soroptimist club prepared
the food for the party and as
sisted in serving.
Mrs. Wallace Malone, (Nancy
Adams) was a guest of the club.
EXTENSION UNIT TO MEET
The Heppner Extension unit
will meet Tuesday, January 8 at
1:30 p. m. at the home of Mrs.
N. C. Anderson.
The project -will be buying and
using foam rubber and leader
will be Miss Beverly Bradshaw,
county extension agent.

The lone high school Lettermen's Club has challenged the
lone town team to a rip-roaring game of Donkey BasketbalL
The outstanding half-time entertainment provided by lone
students together with this hilarious game promises an un
usually fine evening of enjoyment for the whole ..family.
Tickets are 75c for adults. 50c for high school students with
student body cards from their school and 35c for grade
school students. Lettermen may keep a larger percentage of
the pre-game sale, so they
them prior to the game If possible.

A teen age party for all high
schoolers of lone, Lexington and
Heppner was held Friday night
at the Elks Temple.
A buffet lunch was prepared
and served by the Soroptimlsts,
assisted bv parents of the stu
dents and dancing and games
were enjoyed,
