Former lone Man To
Have 90th Birthday
Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Head of
Cathlamet, Washington plan to
celebrate his 90th birthday at
their home Sunday, December 23,
with open house during the after
noon and evening. They will be
assisted by sons and daughters.
Mr. Head, resident pastor of
the Congregational church at
lone, Oregon between 1922 and
1931, hopes to welcome many
friends and neighbors, old and
new, from far and near, on this
occasion.

Leta Humphreys Home
Bookworms met Tuesday of last
week for their annual Christmas
party at the home of Miss Leta
Humphreys with Mrs. Fred- Par
rish as co-hostess.
Members exchanged gifts and
Miss Humphreys showed pictures
of her trip East last summer and
played ballads and Christmas
music on records.
Others present were Mrs. Ted

At Mankin Home
The Pinochle Club met Friday
afternoon at the home of Mrs,
Fred Mankin.
Mrs. Ed LeTrace had high
score, Mrs. Henry Happold won
the traveling prize.

her home.

Benefit Card Party
Well Attended
Fourteen tables of bridge and
pinochle were in play at the
benefit card party at the Epis
copal parish house, Thursday
evening of last week. Hostesses
representing various church
groups were Mrs. Clarence John
son, Mrs. Jack Van Winkle, Mrs.
Paul Koenig, Mrs. George Little,
and Mrs. Lelioy Gardner. Proceeds
go toward the purchase of a
portable x-ray unit for the hos
pital. High score for the women in
pinochle went to Mrs. Herbert
Hamilton and Mrs. Frank Ad
kins was low. For the men, Frank
Turner was high and Delbert
Wright, low. In bridge, Mrs. Fred
Parrish had high score for the
women and Phil Blakney for the
men. Mrs. Archie Fortner and
Jack Angel were low. Mrs. Pete
McMurtry received the matched
luggage and Mrs. Frank Wilkin
son won the door prize.
Refreshments were served.

St. Patrick's Catholic church
held a Christmas party Tuesday
evening at the Legion hall with
over 100 in attendance.
The Christmas decorations
were by Mrs. James Monahan

Daggett and Mrs. James Healy
were in charge of the refresh
ments. Dancing was enjoyed durinft
the evening and Rev. Patrick
Gaire was presented with a gift.
