Goldenweds To Be
Feted at Open House
An open house will be held
Sunday, December 16 from 1:00 to
5:00 p. m. in honor of the 50th
wedding anniversary of Mr. and
Mrs. William Heath.
Those entertaining for their
parents at the Heath home on
Rhea Creek will be Mr. and Mrs.
William Heath, Mr. and Mrs,
Merle Abbott of Portland, Sam,
Elmer, Pearl and Ralph Heath.
All friends and neighbors are
invited to attend.

An event of Saturday afternoon
at the Heppner Methodist church
was the blue and white wedding
of Leila McLachlan, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Glenn McLachlan
to Thomas E. -Sullivan, son of
Mrs, Mary Sullivan and
Sullivan of Los Angeles.
Lester Boulden officiated at the
double ring ceremony.
The bride, given in marriage by
her father, was gowned in white
brocade satin ballerina length
gown, fashioned along princess
lines with long sleeves and a
vee neck. Her shoulder length
veil was held in place with a
juliet cap of the same material
and was trimmed with pearls.
Her bouquet was a single white
Cattaleya orchid centered in a
wedding ring of white satin fea
thered mums which she carried
on a white bible with blue satin
streamers.
Matron of honor was Mrs.
David Moreside of Spokane, who
was gowned in azure blue taf
feta princess style dress, ballerina
length with short sleeves. Sfie
carried a cascade of white fea
thered mums with azure blue rib
bon streamers and centered with
a corsage of white feathered
chrysanthemums.
The best man was Bill Sullivan
of Spokane, brother of the groom
and ushers were Boyd Smith of
Spokane and Darrel McLachlan
of Heppner.
Mrs. Victor Kreimeyer played
the wedding music and Victor
Kreimeyer sang "Because," and
"The Lord's Prayer".
Flowers used about the church
were white chrysanthemums with
blue bows. White candleabra and
white mums were used at the
altar.
The mother of the bride wore
a rose faille afternoon dress with
matching hat, pink chrysanthe
mum corcage and black acces
sories. The mother of the groom
wore a slate blue afternoon dress
with matching hat, pink chry
santhemum corsage and black ac
cessories. At the reception following, in
the basement of the church, the
blue and white color scheme was
carried out by a centerpiece on
the tea table of blue dutch iris
and white chrysanthemums with
silver leaves and white satin
bows. Small yellow butterflies
used in the flower arrangement
matched the yellow in the iris.
Mrs. Alvin Wagenblast cut the
three tiered cake which was de
corated with blue coloring and
topped with a bride and groom.
Mrs. Darrel McLachlan had
charge of the guest book and
Mrs. Don Bennett poured. Mrs.
John Bergstrom was in charge of
the reception and Mrs. Velma
Glass assisted in serving.
For going away the bride wore
a navy blue suit with white ac
cessories and an orchid corsage.
She is a graduate of Heppner
high school and attended Kin
man Business College in Spo
kane where she has been em
ployed by Ernst and Ernst, Ac
counting. The groom took busi
ness training In Spokane follow
ing two years in the service and
is now employed as an auditor in
Los Angeles where the couple will
reside.

and Mrs. Bill Sullivan, Spokane;
Miss Mary Sullivan, Pullman;
Mrs. Moreside, Spokane, the ma
tron of honor; Mr. and Mrs. Boyd

Bazaar Saturday
The Women's Auxiliary of All
Saints Episcopal church held
their annual bazaar and tea on
Saturday afternoon.

Decorations Theme
Of Unit Meeting
The Heppner extension unit met
Dec. 4 at the home of Mrs. Mer
ritt Gray for an all-day meeting
on candle making and holiday
decorations from nature.
Mrs. Gene Ferguson and Mrs.
Ray Drake were project leaders
for candle making and they
showed the group how to con
struct wax snowballs and roses.
They also displayed a large .num
ber of beautiful candles they naa
made.
The holiday decorations were
demonstrated by Mrs. Kenneth
Keeling and Mrs. Paul Warren.
They started a wreath and ex
plained how to make door swags
and table decorations from Ore
gon greens.
Those present were served cake,
tea and coffee with their lunches.

Preferential Tea at
Community Church
The Epsilon Sigma Alpha gave
a preferential tea Nov. 29 in the
Community church parlor for the
new members. The pledge cere
mony was given for Mrs. Betty
Hausler and the jewel ceremony
for Mrs. Marilyn Rietmann and
Mrs. Alice Crawford.
For the program, Mrs. Irene
Leathers gave a reading, Annie
and Willie's Prayer and Mrs.
Tresa Hatfield sang All that You
Are and With a Song in My
Heart, accompanied by Mrs. Betty
Marquardt. Christmas carols were
sung by all, led by Mrs. Leathers
and accompanied by Mrs. Mar
quardt. The tea table was decorated
with blue and yellow the soror
ity colors. Mrs. Gladys Heliker
and Mrs. Betty Rietmann poured.
Mrs. Eileen Padberg and Mrs.
Donna Peterson had charge of the
tea.

dessert and pinochle party Friday
night at the Devine home, honor
ing the birthday of Mrs. Edna
Turner.

Mrs. Madge Bryant, Mrs. Jarvis
Chaffee, Mrs. Mabel Zeimantz,

High prize went to Mrs. Case
bere and Mrs. Van Schoiack was

St. Anne's Guild of All Saints
Episcopal church held a regular
meeting Monday evening in the
Parish House. Six members were
present.
Plans for various projects for
the coming year were discussed.

last week for dessert bridge at
her home.
