Soroptimist Club
Sees Colored Slides
Of Summer Trip
Miss Leta Humphreys showed
colored slides to the Soroptimist
club Thursday noon, of various
points of interest across the Uni
ted States and of some of the ban
quets and meetings of the Fed
eration and International conven
tions of Soroptimists clubs, whiqh
she attended in July and August.
She has many more slides
which time did not allow her to
show and it is hoped the club
will see these at a later date.

Recent Marriage Of
Lexington Girl Told
Mr. and Mrs. Vernon E. Mun
kers announce the marriage, on
October 28, of their daughter
Marilyn to Lowell L. Harris, son
of Mr. and Mrs. T. T. Harris of
Clarksburg, Missouri.
The couple are at home at
1020 N. Baker street in Santa
Ana, Calif. They expect to arrive
in Lexington December 18 to
spend the holidays with her parents.

Party Successful
The party and dance given in
honor of the seventh by the
eighth grades was a huge success
and all pupils present reported
having a wonderful time.
The opening of the basketball
season by the grade school Ponies
heralds a game played at 2.30
on Wednesday with Heppner vs.
Pilot Rock.
Snyder Forms Chess Club
December 6 will mark the start
of a chess club for the seventh
and eighth grades and the high
school, the organizational meet
ing for Thursday will be In Mr.
Snyder's room the last period of
the day.

A buffet supper In honor of
Mrs. Iris Fisher of Heppner was
held at the home of her brother
and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
Leo Flower, Saturday evening,
Nov. 17. Present were Mr. and
Mrs. Rho Bleakman, Mr. and Mrs.
Roy Cork, Mr. and Mrs. Harold
Cork. The Cork men and Mrs.
Bleakman are cousins of Mrs.
Fisher and Leo Flower. The
evening was spent reminiscing
and looking over pictures belong
ing to Grandmother Flower who
was once the photographer for the
Monument country.
After spending a week visiting
here Mrs. Fisher plans to visit
a short while with a sister at
Athena then will go to California
to visit children.

Tommy Haywood and Mr. and
Mrs. George Capon drove to
Bend Nov. 23 for dental appoint
ments and to visit Grandmother
Capon.

weeks. Mrs. Engle stayed there

Mrs. Clara Flower was told by
phone Monday that two of her
pupils had placed high on the
turkey coloring contest that was
held by Chester's Market of John
Day for children of the first three
grades. Janice Cavender, daugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Jock Cavender
won first prize of a 16 pound tur
key and Ronny Croker, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Jim Croker won third
prize of a picnic.
Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Boyer and
children had dinner Nov. 11 with
her mother Mrs. Edna Moore.
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Van Meter of
Malin were overnight guests at
the Matteson home Nov. 26 on
their way from a visit to Kenne
wick and Pasco.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Croker and
Ronnie drove to Vale Nov. 23.
They returned Nov. 25.
Darrel Farrens made a trip to
Nyssa Thursday then left Sunday
morning for Portland with a load
of cattle.

HAPPY BLUE BIRDS
The Happy Blue Birds met at
the home of their leader, Mrs.
Stockard. We had the flag sa
lute then we sang the Blue Bird
wish and "There is a little Girl".
The secretary-treasurer gave her
report and we had election of of
ficers. They are: president, Bar

We sang Christmas carols and

4-H Club News
IONE JOLLY CHEFS
The Jolly Chefs cooking club
met at the home of Dianna Petty
john Dec. 1. We had a business
meeting and Mrs. Baker had us
tell what was wrong with a table
setting. We received, our cooking
and record books.
Two members have joined the
club, they are Michelle and
Cheryle Morrison. Our junior
leader will be Mardine Baker.
It has been decided to hold
our meetings on the second Sat
urday and the fourth Wednesday
nf everv month. All meetings
will begin at 1:30 p. m. Our next
meeting will be Dec. 15 at me
Raker home.

The members of the Teen-age
Stitchers pinned and cut out the
garment they are going to make.
The all day meeting was held at
the home of our club leader, Mrs.
