Members of the Future Home makers of America assisted with the serving. o The Gerald Tabers Guests of Honor At Sunday Reception ... Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Privett enter tained a group of friends Sunday at their home, honoring Mr. and Mrs. Gerald L. Taber (Billie Jean Privett) whose wedding was an event of last Monday.. The tea table was covered with a white lace cloth, crocheted by the bride's grandmother, and centered with a pink and white three tiered wedding cake topped with white bells and lilies of the vallay. The cake was made and decorated by the bride's mother. The rooms were decorated with baskets of pink asters and fern. After the bride and groom cut the first piece of cake, Mrs. Frank Connor continued with the cut ting and serving. Mrs. Scollan Grabeel assisted the hostess with serving the punch and coffee. Guests present were Mr. and Mrs. Earl Soward, Mr. and Mrs. Etsyl Gentry, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Van Marters Hosts For Bridge Saturday Mr. and Mrs. La Verne Van Marter entertained with three tables of bridge and refresh ments at their home Saturday evening. Prizes were won by Harry Tamblyn, high; James Mallon, second and John Snyder, low. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Tam blyn, Mr. and Mrs. Mallon, Mr. and Mrs. Snyder, Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Gunderson and Mr. and Mrs. Gene Hall. Patsy Wright Tells Soroptimists of Trip To Washington, D. C. Guest speaker at the Soropti mist club luncheon Thursday at O'Donnell's was Miss Patsy Wright, one of four Oregon dele gates to the national 4-H con gress in Washington, D. C. last spring and representative of the nation's 4-H girls to appear on a national radio and television hookup rcently. She showed slides of her trip to Washington and New York City and told of the interesting things she saw while there. At the meeting also, plans were completed for the public card party the club is sponsoring Mon day evening, September 24 at the parish house at 8:00 p. m. The party is a benefit to help finance the annual Hallowe'en hayride that the Soroptimist club gives for all teenagers. Guests were Mrs. James Thom son, Mrs. Tom Wilson, Mrs. Ran dall Martin, Mrs. Velma Glass, Mary Ann O'Donnell, Mrs. Joe Wright, Mrs. Bill Farra and Miss Joan Wright. o Diane Schaffitz Celebrates Birthday Diane Schaffitz, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. E. K. Schaffitz, celebra ted her ninth birthday Friday evening with a dinner party at the home of her parents. The table was decorated with birthday place mats and balloons and dolls, which were also favors for the guests. Those present were Barbara Gribble, Carol Thurston, Brenda Young, Patti Collins, Erna Lyn Winchester, Jimmy Schaffitz and the guest of honor. Later in the evening the girls attended the movie at the Star Theater. First Ladies Night Of Season Held By Elks Thursday First ladies night of the season was held at the Elks lodge Thurs day evening with bridge prizes going to Mrs. La Verne van Mar ter, high and Mrs. Frank Turner, second. Pinochle prizes were won by Mrs. Bert Kane, high and Mrs Ed Baker, Jr., second. Mrs. Frank Wilkinson won the special prize. Hostesses for cards and refresh ments were Mrs. Robert Jones, chairman, Mrs. Riley Munkers, Mrs. Kemp Dick, Mrs. Jack Healy, Mrs. Ned Sweek and Mrs. Jerry Daggett. Charles R. Democratic Central Committee, Al Lamb, chairman Episcopal Women Plan October Card Party Plans for a public card party to be given by the Womens' Auxili ary of All Saints Episcopal church Monday, Oct. 8, at 8 p. m. at the parish hall were made at a meet ing of the group Monday night at the hall. Mrs. La Verne Van Marter was named chairman of the event. The annual bazaar was set for Saturday, Dec. 1, with lunch and tea serving to start at noon and the bazaar to open at 1 p. m. at the parish hall. Mrs. Lowell Grib ble and Mrs. P. W. Mahoney are co-chairmen. Plans were discus sed for the all day area meeting of Episcopal women at Hermis ton Oct. 1. Mrs. Robert Ferrell, president, was in charge of the meeting and hostesses for refreshments were members of St. Elizabeth's circle with Mrs. Dick Wells in charge. D. McMurdo left today (Thursday) for Portland where she, in company with Mrs. M. E. Smead, will join the Churchill Tours "Inc. for an extended trip east. The tour will go through Canida via Banff and Lake Louise with sightseeing stops at Toronto, Niagra Falls, Ottowa, Mon treal and Quebec. The tour goes south through the New England states and Wash ington, D. C. and continue west to Chicago. They will return home about the end of October. Wayne Hams who is recovering from a fractured pelvis bone received in a pickup accident, returned to school Monday.
