home in Lexington, Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack O'Harra and
children are visiting at the Newt
O'Harra home from Portland.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Ritchie of
Salem were renewing acquaint
ances in Lexington last week.
The Holly Rebekah lodge enter
tained at the A. F. Majeske home
with a bridal shower honoring
Mrs. Jack Mounts (nee Audrey
Majeske) on Saturday afternoon.
Games were played with Mrs.
Merle Cornilson, Delpha Jones
and Colleen Padberg winning
prizes with the door prize going
to Mrs. Majeske. After the open
ing of her many fine gifts, re
freshments were served to the

ces McMillan were The Dalles
visitors last week.
Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Jones mo
tored to Yakima and Toppenish
over the weekend. They visited
Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. John
Runyon at the McKinley Indian
Mission at Toppenish.
Mrs. Alex Hunt entertained the
Lutheran Ladies Aid at her home
Friday afternoon. A most in
structive Bible study was held in
the early part of the meeting
with the Rev. Zier in charge. After
the business of the afternoon was
held refreshments were served to
the following ladies, Mrs. Al
Fetsch, Mrs. Henry Rauch, Mrs.
McCurdy and Mrs. Wells, and
Mrs. Matheny of Heppner, Mrs. G.
Hermann of lone and her house
guest from Chicago, Mrs. Julian
Rauch and Mrs. Rudolph Klinger
of Ilermiston, Mrs. Irvin Rauch,
Mrs. Gene Majeske, Mrs. Gene
Cutsforth, and Mrs. Cecil Jones
of Lexington and Mrs. Crawford
and daughter of Hermiston. Re
freshments were served.
Mr. and Mrs. W. E. McMillan
are visiting at the Elmer Pome
roy home in Kelso. Mrs. Pomeroy
is a sister of Mr. McMillan. While
there they will visit Mrs. Lou
Broadley, an aunt of Mr. Mc
Millan also.
Mrs. Clarence Hays and daugh
ters Deanna and Janice motored
to Lexington last week bringing
Deanna for a visit with her
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl
Warner. They make their home
in Corvallis.
Rev. and Mrs. Norman North-
rup and infant daughter returned
to their home Saturday after at
tending the Turner Christian
church convention at Turner, Ore
gon.
Mrs. B. J. Doherty returned
home Saturday after several days
spent at the 411 summer camp in
Iloprjner where she assisted with
the cooking.
The Roy Martin family and the
Claude White family were among
those enjoying some fishing last
week near Granite, Ore.
Mrs. Mcrwyn Smith and Mrs.
W. Miller and son Gary of La
Grande were dinner guests on
Thursday at the C. C. Jones
homo motoring over after the
small daughter of the Smith's,
Corky Smith who has been visit
ing at the Jones home.
Miss Dona Barnett and Mrs.
Trina Parker were Tendleton
visitors one day last week.

ington returned home Saturday
after a visit with her grandpar
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Johnson.

Mr. and Mrs. Ed Rounds re
turned home Monday evening
from Hoopa, Calif., where they
had been visiting their son and
family, the Melvin Rounds, the
past two weeks. They brought
back their two erandsons and
dog back with them for a while.
Stanley Boyer's had as house
guests the past week his sister.
Mrs. Herb Copeland and children,
while she was up on business.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Durst were
in John Day Tuesday for her
checkup, she was sent home to
just rest her heart, as much as
possible.
Johnny Geinger, son, of Mr. and
Mrs. Archie Geinger of Cotton
wood, is here on furlough from
the Army.
Harold Lippert has sold his
semi-trailer and freight permit
to Mr. Darrell Farrens.
Mr. and Mrs. Ross McDonald
returned to their home in Lone
Creek from their honeymoon in
Utah and Arizona. She was for
merly Miss Barbara Williams of
Monument.

from visiting in Washington with

the grange hall. Eating and cards
were the theme of the evening.

Mrs. Ray Cork were hostesses.
Delbert Stubblefield is reported
coming along ok, he was In the
Veteran's hospital at Walla Wal
la, Washington. His wife Lillian
and mother Ellen is with him.
Mrs. Lee Geinger was in town
visiting Friday from her home In
Long Creek.
The George Stubblefield family
was in John Day Friday on busi
ness. Miss Tudy Michaud, Donna
Kenny, Jessie Scott of Long Creek
were down getting cherries and
stopped to visit Mrs. Matteson on
Thursday.
Harold Lippert drove to Port
land over the weekend.
Lee Slocum is working on a
new garage besides an addition
on the house.
Mrs. Joe Mellor drove to John
Day Saturday to bring back
Mrs. Bob Kelly who was in the
JohnDay Clinic for surgery.

Gerald Slocum has been busy
the past ten days hauling build
ing material. He has bought a
strip of land from Lynn Forest
which Joins his place, knows as
the Vic Wilkinson place, where
he Intends to build a home there
soon.
Mrs. Earl Barnard is reported
to be able to come home soon
from the John Day hospital.

Mr. and Mrs. Roice Fulleton
and family went to Vale on Sat
urday and stayed until after the
fourth of July holiday.
Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose Chapin
left Sunday for Portland. Chapin
returned on Monday but Mrs.
Chapin remained for a few more
days.
