Program Ends Lex Vacation School

Vacation Bible school ended on
Friday with a program held at
the Christian church at 8 p. m.
The program was as follows:

Theme song, prayer song, and
prayer by Norman Northrup. The
nursery class was the next with
the following teachers In charge,
Mrs. Alta Messenger, Mrs. Iris
Campbeli, and Mrs. Ilene Pad
berg, the songs were, Jesus is
Mine, Here are My Two Hands,
and What I Have. Beginners
class gave recitations on the Ten
Commandments, and sang, Whis
per Song, and Little Stars, the
teachers for this were Mrs. Del
pha Jones, Mrs. Joan Smith and
Miss Margaret Kendall. Begin
ners class sang with the nursery
class and gave some recitations,
and a solo by Valda Irvin. The
teachers in the beginners divi
sion were Mrs. Jo Irvin, Mrs. La
Verne Henderson, Mrs. 0. Laney
and Dora Sue Davidson. The pri
mary, junior and teen-age group
followed, singing "The Bible is A
Living Book", and the junior
class gave recitations, and sang
a special song, led by their teach
ers Mrs. Gladys Van Winkle and
Mrs. Irene Nolan. Offering and
announcements followed with the
certificates being awarded. All
sang the prayer song, "Thank You
Lord", the teen-age group showed
slides that they had made of the
scroll and ten commandments.
Teacher of this group was Rev.
Norman Northrup. There were 74
enrolled In V. B. S. The dally
missionary offering was sent to
the MeKinley Indian Mission In
Washington.
Earl Kendall of Ukiah was a
Lexington visitor Friday night,
coming after his daughter Lucile,
who attended V. B. S. in the teen
age class and Margaret who was
a helper at V. B. S.
Virginia (Ginger) Majeske is a
patient in Pioneer Memorial hos
pital having undergone surgery
on Sunday.
Mrs. Alvin Wagenblast is a
patient in Pioneer Memorial hos
pital having undergone surgery
on Wednesday.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hays
and daughters are visiting at the
Earl Warner home, parents of
Mrs. Hays, from their home in
Corvallis.
Lee Padberg is visiting with his
grandmother, Mrs. Sperry In
Portland for a few weeks. Mrs.
Sperry motored to Lexington
after him last week.
A. H. Nichols consulted a phy
sician in Heppner Monday suf
fering from an infected thumb.
The Lexington Grange held its
regular meeting on Saturday
night with the master Alvin
Wagenblast presiding. After a
successful meeting, at which time
it was announced that Pomona
will meet at Willows the first
Saturday in July, a fine group of
pictures were shown by Mrs. Jean
Nelson of her recent trip to Ha
waii on one of the Grange spon
sored tours. Grange meets the
second Saturday of every month
and all members are Invited to
attend. Refreshments were ser
ved later in the lunch room.
Wilbur Steagall is a patient
in St. Anthony's hospital in Pen
dleton, having undergone sur
gery on Friday.
Holly Rebekah lodge met on
Thursday night with the N. G.
Otillia Hunt presiding. The main
business of the evening was the
preparing for the visit to be held
on the third Thursday of the state
president. It is urged by the of
ficers that all Rebekah members
