Many Attend Lex Vacation School .

Vacation Bible school started
on May 28th with an enrollment
of about 74 pupils. Classes start
at 9 a. m. until 11:30 a. m. There
are classes for all ages, starting
at three years. The following wo
men are teachers: Mrs. Franklin
Messenger, Mrs. Roger Campbell,
Mrs. O. Laney, Mrs. George Irvin,
Mrs. Eldon Pad berg, Mrs. La
Verne Henderson, Mrs. M. V.
Nolan, Mrs. William J. Van Win
kle, Mrs. C. C. JoneSj Mrs. Floyd
Smith and Norman N'orthrup with
Mrs. Ken Peck as pianist. Helpers
are Dure Sue Davidson, Margaret
Kendall. A program will be held
at the church on Friday night at
8 p. m. at which time all the
classes will have a part., A col
lection will be taken at this time
to help with the costs of the ma
terials used at this two week's
vacation Bible school.
Mr. and Mrs. Del Cockran and
children and Jim Cockran of Port
land were visitors lately at the
Eldon Padberg home.
Mr. and Mrs. Oris Padberg were
Weston visitors on Memorial
Day.
Mrs. Crystal Casteel, mother of
Don Casteol and Mrs. B. J. Do
herty. left for her home in Cas
par. Wyoming on Tuesday via
Portland where she will stop over
for a short visit.
Danny Davidson of Arlington
visited at the Bob Davidson home
on Saturday.
Mrs. Don Hatfield and children
returned last week from Wallowa
where she spent several days
visiting her father,
Charlene Jones, Margaret and
Lucille Kendall were dinner
guests of Miss Paula Barak and
Mrs. Jack Barak on Tuesday.
Miss Rosetta Laney has gone
to Lakeview, Oregon where she
will spend the summer visiting
relatives.
Bobby Davidson and Gregory
Leyva entertained about 40 of
their friends at a party in one
of the hangars at the airport.
Dancing was enjoyed from 8 p.
m. until 12 p. m. At Intermission
refreshments of cookies and
punch was served.
Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Munkers
returned Sunday from Los Ange
les wnere they had visited Miss
Edna Luttrell, a sister of Mrs.
Munkers. Marilyn Munkers re- j
mained there for an extended
visit.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Mathews and
children have returned from a
visit to Newport, Oregon where
they visited Mr. Mathews mother.
Kirk Mathews remained there for
a visit.
Miss Dona Barnett and Mrs.
Trina Parker are visiting in Port
land, motoring down with Mrs.
Norma Marquardt.
Mrs. T. E. Messenger Sr. is
visiting her daughter Mrs. Bill B.
Marquardt who has just returned
from Pioneer Memorial hospital
with her infant daughter Charma
Trudie.
Mr. and Mrs. William Nichols
are the parents of a daughter
Shirlee Catherine, born Sunday
in Pioneer Memorial hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. W. E. McMillan
and Mr. and Mrs. George Irvin
were visitors at the Bert Darnielle
home in Hood River on Sunday.
Cherry Grey returned to Lex
ington Sunday after a visit with
her mother Nita Grey in Ukiah.
Cherry is employed at the B.
J. Doherty home while Mrs. Do
herty is in The Dalles with the
4-H clubs.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Martin, and
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Beach, and
Mr .and Mrs. B. J. Doherty, Mrs.
Ken Palmer, Mrs. Ray Dolven are
among the parents in The Dalles
this week with 4-H.
James Laney son of Mr. and
Mrs. O. L. Laney and Gerald
Messenger, son of Mr. and Mrs.
T. E. Messenbr Sr. have enlisted
in the U. S. marines, for four
years, leaving last Thursday
morning from Umatilla for San
Diego, California. James was an
honor student graduate from the
