Turner and Miss Leta Humphreys. Mrs. Lennie Louden was chairman for the tea and Mrs. Clem Stockard and Mrs. Robert Jones poured at the beautifully appointed tea table. On the program were Gayle Hoskins who played a piano solo, Mary Jo and Alice Faye Stewart in a vocal duet accompanied by Mrs. Joe Stewart, Sandra Jones who gave a reading, Joan Stockard and Janice Baker in a vocal duet accompanied by Jean Stockard and a violin solo by Mrs. Tom Wilson. Matthew Hughes and Joan Miller Are Married Tuesday Mrs. Joan Miller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Terrel Benge of lone and Matthew Hughes, son of Mrs. Grace Hughes of Heppner were married in a double ring cere mony Tuesday evening, May 8th at the Methodist parsonage Rev. Lester Boulden officiated in the presence of a few relatives and friends. Attendants were Mrs. Don Bel- lenbrook and Homer Hughes, sis ter and brother of the groom. The bride wore a navy after noon dress with white accessories and white rose corsage. Mrs. Bel lenbrock wore a blue suit, pink accessories and a corsage of white carnations. At the reception that followed at the home of the bride, Mrs. Elwyn Hughes cut the cake and Mrs. Bellenbrock poured. Gertson, national committee woman and state director as in specting officer. Graduation ceremonies were conducted for two junior mem bers, Miss Phyllis Quackenbush and Miss Peggy Applegate who were then initiated into the sen ior lodge along with another new member, Mrs. Nettie Nichols. Following the meeting, refresh ments were served by Mrs. Merritt Gray and Mrs. Adelle Bailey. o Mrs. Owens' Piano Students in Recital Mrs. Lucille Owens presented her grade school pupils in a piano recital Sunday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Victor Krei meyer. Spring flowers were ef fectively used about the rooms. Pupils presented were Vickie Kreimeyer, Merlin Hughes, Susan Drake and Linda Smith. Refreshments were served fol lowing the recital. The Heppner Extension Unit met Tuesday, May 8th at the home of Mrs. Sam Turner for the last meeting of this year. A luncheon was served at noon by Mrs. Turner and Mrs. Ray Drake. The project for this meeting was "clothes remodeling clinic" led by Beverly Bradshaw. Seven women brought garments to remodel. .Following the business meet ing, Beverly Bradshaw, county extension agent, installed the new officers for next year. Plans were made for a dinner on Fathers' Day, June 17th to be served to the public at the Rhea Creek Grange hall from 12:30 to 3 p. m. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Howard Eubanks and family of Arlington; Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Eubanks and daughter Sandra; and Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Halvor sen and family. The high school Girl's League entertained their mothers with a tea Monday afternoon at the cafetorium. They served cookies, mints, coffee and punch. The program consisted of 2 piano numbers by Julie Rietmann, a pantonine by Dalene McDonald, Geraldine Morgan, Linda Halvor- sen and Micheal Morrison. The mothers enjoyed and appreciated the affair very much. Carolyn Crabtree had charge of the pro gram and Judy Mason and Anna Jensen served. At a meeting of the members of the Community church Mon day evening the following were elected on the pulpit committee: Mrs. E. M. Baker, Mrs. Roland Bergstrom and Kenneth Smouse as ex-officios; Fredrick Martin, Mrs. Noel Dobyns, W. E. Melena, Mrs. Omar Rietmann and Mrs. Mary Swanson as voting mem bers of the committee.
