' . . t' J- ' Volleyball Tournament The faculty, juniors, seniors, sophomores, and freshmen are having a volleyball tournament starting Monday. Today we drew names to see who we will play first. Faculty Back To Normal The lone faculty is back in full force, after a siege of mumps. Mrs. Hall, our first grade teach er and Mr. Peirce our 8th grade teacher, also grade sports teacher are back at the old grind of teaching, after being out two weeks, with the mumps. The students of lone are happy to have them back. Junior Class Meeting The junior class has been having class meetings about the junior-senior banquet and prom. We are ready to send away for our decorations1 and other neces sities. Our first meeting was at Don Heliker's new home. The second was a committee meeting and It was held at McKinnys. School Scholarship Received The school has received many different applications for college scholarships. Many of the stu dents are trying out for them. Some of the colleges are Ore gon State, University of Oregon, Oregon College of Education, Southern Oregon College of Edu cation, Portland State, and La Vern College of California. Mrs. Everett Wheeler of Kim berly had as house guests for a few days, her sister, Mrs. Fraser and son of Springfield. Mrs. Mildred Fry who was visit ing her sister Mrs. Steve Kincaid, has taken a job in Canyon City for a month. Mr. and Mrs. Owen Leathers of Rhea Creek were in last Wednes day for the Moore funeral. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Schaffer of Cecil were over for the day Wed nesday. Mr. and Mrs. Steve Kincaid drove Mr. and Mrs. Earl Barnard to Bend Monday where Mrs. Bar nard had a medical checkup. Jessie Matteson was an over night guest at the Johnson home Friday, then motored to Heppner early Saturday morning with Ernie and Judy Johnson. When their business was finished they drove to the home of Mr. and Mrs. N. D. Bailey where they were dinner guests.
