Party Well Attended
Twelve tables of bridge and
pinochle were in play at the
benefit card party Friday night
at the home of Mrs. John Lane.
The affair was sponsored by the
American Legion auxiliary.
Harold Laird won first prize in
pinochle and Mrs. Roscoe Solbig
was low. In bridge, Mrs. Creston
Robinson held high score and
Mrs. C. C. Carmichael was low.
Jesse Ticer received the door
prize.
Assisting in serving were Mrs.
Ralph Marlatt, Mrs. William
Heath, Mrs. Harry Tamblyn and
Mrs. Richard Wells.

For Nine Year Olds
Mrs. James Thomson was hos
tess at a birthday party, Friday,
January 20 honoring her son
Bruce and David and Douglas
Anderson, sons of Mr. and Mrs.
N. C. Anderson, who are all nine
years old.
Guests were Ronnie Jones, John
ny Pfeiffer, David and George
Van Schoiack, Danny McQuarrie,
Rillv Wolff. Kit George, Johnny
Johnson and Ruby and Becky
Fulleton.
TV and games were enjoyed
and refreshments were served.

Final Plans Made For
Pancake Luncheon
Officers of St. Elizabeth's, St.
Anne's and St. Monicas Guilds
met at the home of Mrs. Robert
Ferrell Thursday morning of last
week. Plans were completed for
the Pancake Luncheon to be held
at the Parish house February 14.

Surprise Party By
Heppner Teachers
Mrs. William Sowell, clerk of
school district No. 1, was guest
of honor at a surprise teachers
meeting and party Monday even
ing at the school.
Mrs. Sowell has resigned her
position, to be effective February
1.
On behalf of the teachers, she
was presented a farewell gift by
Mr. Joe Stewart, superintendent
of the Heppner schools.

open house held in the newly

church basement, Saturday after
noon, January 21.

Peters and Victor Kriemeyer in
vocal solos, accompanied by Mrs.
Kreimeyer and Mrs. Boulcien sang
a solo, accompanied by Mrs. Lu
cile Owens. Judy and Pamela

Nancy and Carol Anderson
played piano solos. Incidental
music during the afternoon was
played by Mrs. Owens and a
clarinet duet was played by Jay
Sumner and Lynda Borman.

a new member of the club and
Mrs. Jones was introduced as a

THE BUSY STITCHERS
The meeting was called to or
der Jan. 14 by our president Mere
dith Thomson in the Methodist
church basement. We said our
pledges and all the girls were
measured for their clothing con
struction. Our patterns were
checked and some of the girls
laid theirs on their material.
Refreshments were served.

THE CHAT CHAT CLUB
We met at Mrs. Huit's home. We
elected game and song leaders.
Dianne Warren is song leader,
Jenifer Brinndle is game leader.
Then we practiced sewing a
hem with our needles.
We played a game and sang
a song.
The meeting was adjourned by
the president. We ate cookies and
had some punch.

The Merry Cookers held their
meeting Jan. 21 at the home of
Shannon Mahoney. This was a
work meeting and we made fruit
salads of our own creation and
then ate them. We also worked
on our project books.
Our next meeting will be at
