Bridge Clubs Play
At Jack Angel Home
Five tables of bridge were
played at a no-host dessert party
at the home of Mrs. Jack Angel
last Wednesday evening.
Those playing were Mrs. Angel,
Mrsr. William Sowell, Mrs. Pat
O'Brien, Mrs. Fred Sanders, Mrs.
Phil Blakney, Mrs. Lester Wyman,
Mrs. Eddie Gunderson, Mrs. Paul
Koenig, Mrs. James Popham,
Mrs. Harry O'Donnell, Jr., Mrs.
Wallace Wolff, Mrs. Richard
Meador, Mrs. Larry Dowen, Mrs.

Players were divided into two
groups of highs and lows, win
ners In the high group being Mrs.

second and Mrs. Case, low. In
the low group, Mrs. Hall was
high, Mrs. Wyman, second and

Talk on Clothes
The Heppner Extension Unit
met Tuesday afternoon, January
10th at the home of Mrs. Lee
Scrivner.
Members and guests present
were Miss Beverly Bradshaw, Mrs.
Douglas Drake, Mrs. Al Fetsch,
Mrs. Paul Warren, Mrs. Lloyd
Harshman, Mrs. Ray Drake, Mrs.
Llewellyn Robbins, Mrs. Knudsen,
Mrs. Kenneth Keeling, Mrs. N. C.
Anderson, Mrs William Heath
and Mrs. Gene Ferguson.
Miss Bradsaw gave an illus
trated talk on "Good Taste in
Clothes."
Refreshments were served.

Dr. Stanley Kirk and Dr. Janet
Kirk, formerly practicing physi
cians at the Heppner Clinic, are
now established in Paso Robles,
California where they have pur-
, chased a medical practice.
Dr. Bob Bliss, dentist with the
Heppner Clinic, left yesterday for
Spokane where he will open a
? dental office.
Episcopal Guild Has
Business Meeting
St Elizabeth's Guild of All
Saints Episcopal church held a
regular business meeting Tues
day afternoon, January 11 in the
parish hall, with Mrs. Lucy Peter
son presiding.
Mrs. Peterson and Mrs. A. D.
McMurdo, hostesses, served re
freshments to thirteen.
Rockhounds Plan
Future Field Trips
The Morrow County Gem and
Mineral Society held a regular
meeting Wednesday, January 11th
at the Heppner Hotel. Plans
were made for several field trips
inthe near future. Refreshments
were served by Mrs. Harold San
ders. Anyone wishing to Join the or
ganization may contact Mrs.
John Newman, membership chair
man. Meetings are scheduled
for the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays
of each month.

Semester exams are scheduled
for this week. They will be given
in class periods.
Joe Stewart, superintendent,
attended the Winter Conference
of Secondary School Principals at
Eugene Jan. 13 and 14.
Architects have been contacted
with respect to making plans for
remodeling two of the recently
vacated class rooms into a home
economics department. The
school board plans a complete re'
modeling of the cafeteria and
science department in order to
accommodate the large incoming
classes.
The Quill and Scroll will spon
sor a dutch auction at the Echo
game Saturday night. Two
decorated cakes will be auctioned
off. The Quill and Scroll is doing
this to earn money to give their
annual initiation banquet Jan.
24.
The Junior class sponsored a
dance entitled "Harlequin Hop"
after the lone game Jan. 14.
Admission was set according to
height. They netted $15.70 which
will go into their prom fund.
Fifteen FFA boys and L. A.
Robbins, agriculture and shop in
structor, . attended the Annual
Morrow county Livestock Meet
ing Jan 13 and 14. Three door
prizes were taken by the FFA
boys; Gary Moore won a dehorn
er, Jerry Brace, a vaccinating
syringe, and Jackie Struthers, a
bottle of medicine.

VACATION
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Penland
are on a ten day vacation in San
Jose and San Francisco, Califor
nia. During their absence, the office
of the Gazette Tmes is being
staffed by Mrs. Tom Wilson and

The Hoof and Horn 4-H club
met with the Lexington club on
Sunday, Jan. 8
Two movies were shown, one
was on the culling of sheep, the
other on' farm life. The care and
feeding of beef was discussed.

The Teenage Stitchers called
a meeting together to organize a
club. They elected officers for
the year as follows: president,
Linda Hams; vice president, Judy
Morgan; secretary, Ann- Baker;
news reporter, JoAnn Turner and
song leader, Lona White.
They decided on the place and
the time of each meeting.
They were all to go home and
make a pressing roll and get a
blouse pattern and yardage to go
go with it for the next meeting,
January 21.

MERRY BLUE BIRDS
The regular weekly meeting of
the Merry Blue Birds, Tuesday
afternoon was at the school. At
the last meeting we didn't elect
a treasurer when the other offi
cers were elected so this time we
.elected Patti Collins our treasurer.
The last of the business meet
ing was discussion of plans for
future meetings.
We played a couple of games
and then we started a favor for
a party we areto have later,
