Saturday at the civic building
making green garlands for the
chamber of commerce. They did
not finish the job Saturday so
they plan to work more during
this week.
Miss Bonnie Wiley, Director of
Communications, of Central
Washington College of Education,
Ellensburg, Wash., will be able
to attend the Quill and Scroll
initiation and banquet. The Hepp
ner organization named their
chapter in honor of Miss Wiley
last year. ,
Melvin Derby, representative of
the Oregon Temperance League,
discussed the "Alcohol Problem" ,
Nov. 21 with the freshman and
sophomore classes. i
Heppner Mustangs will partici-'
pate in the basketball jamboree
to be held at Boardman, Dec. 1.
The funds taken in from the jam
boree will be used by the league
for trophies for various sports
and to pay th? commissioners for
assigning officials for the year.
C. W. Johnson, principal of the
grade schools, has moved into his
office in the new building.
Several weeks ago water pipes
broke in a class room not being
used and flooded the hall and
two classrooms. Th?y took off
the wallboard and took part of
the floor out enabling the water
to dry. The rooms have dried
out and are ready to rebuild.
Marie Clary, librarian, and the
student librarians are helping,
move the elementary library into
the new building. The grade
school library will be open five
out of six periods a day.
Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Turner and
Mr. and Mrs. Sam Turner re
turned last Tuesday from an ex
tended trip East.

The sixth grade is giving a
play entitled "The First Thanks
giving", Wednesday at 10:30. It
will be presented to an assembly
of students from the third to the
S2venth grades. Mr. Donald Ells
worth, the sixth grade teacher,
says it will include dancing, sing
ing and comedy dilogue.
Tiie seventh and eighth grade
students old tickets for the Junior
Clas Play. Mr. Stanley Holm, the
play director had announced that
any child who sold five adult
tickets would be gven one free
pass to the play.
A cup cake sale was held Tues
day noon to raise money for the
grade school volley ball team,
the Ppniettes.
The entire grade school attend
ed the Junor class play matinee
Thursday noon. It started at 1:45
and lasted till about 3:30.
