The active number of job seek
ers declined to 15,000 in October
according "to records of the state

The improved conditions were
strongest in the Portland area
during the past three weeks.
Non-agricultural employment
continued close to the record of
495,700 working in August 1952,
during the height of the presiden
tial camDaien.
Estimates for both August ana
September approached the half
million mark and may establish
an all-time record when complete
reports are received.
REPUBLICAN YEARBOOK
The first name on the order
book for the Republican Year
book is that of Governor Paul L.
Patterson. He signed up Friday
when solicited by Republican
county chairmen.
