parsonage of the Christian
I church. Rev. Earl L. Soward per
j formed thj ceremony in the pre
sence of the immediate family
land a few friends.
J The bride was attired in a
iwhite knit suit, carried a bou
quet of white gladioli and was
attended by Mrs. Robert Peter
son of lone, who wore a purple
knit suit and cairied a green or
chid. Stacey Lovgren was best
man.
The bride and groom will ac
company Mr. and Mrs. Victor
Lovgren, son Dean and Miss
Shirley Thomas, sister of the
bride to Kamaloops, B. C. in the
near future, where the Lovgren
family will engage in stock
ranching.

i The Christian church was the
scene of the wedding Saturday
evening, September 3, of Patricia
Peck, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Harold Peck and Leland Hardy,
of La Grande, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Herbert Hardy. Rev. Gene
Robinson of La Grande perform
ed the double ring ceremony.
, The bride was lovely in a gown
of white chantilly lace over taf
feta, ballerina length, worn with
an elbow length veil which was
held in place with a Juliet cap
banded with seed pearls She
carried an arm bouquet of white
carnations centered with a cor
sage of talisman buds.
The bridesmaids, Janet How
ton, Shirley Peck, sister of the
bride and Mary Ellen Hardy, sis
ter of the groom were gowned
alike-in yellow nylon dotted swiss
over taffeta and carried yellow
mums and bronze asters. Mar
jorie Peck, sister of the bride
was the flower girl and also was
a candle lighter with Jeannette
Minnick of Vancouver, cousin of
the bride. They were dressed in
gowns similar to those worn by
the bridesmaids. The ring bearer
was Raymond Hammon, cousin
of the bride and best man was
Clinton Batty, of La Grande. Us
hering were Roger Palmer of
Eight Mile and Donald Hammon,
cousin of the groom of Alicel, Ore
gon. Tlie mother of the bride wore a
wine taffeta gown with a corsage
of white rose buds and the
groom's mother was attired in
navy nylon sheer and wore a
corsage of red rose buds.
Mrs. J. O. Turner played the
wedding marches and accompan
ied Mrs. Fred Hoskins Jr., who
sang "Always" and "Because"
preceding the ceremony.
The church was effectively
decorated with yellow gladioli.
At the reception which was
held in the church basement fol
lowing the ceremony, fall flowers
were used about the rooms
After the cutting of the first
piece of cake, by the bride and
groom, it was served by Mrs.
Millard Nolan, aunt of the bride.
Pouring coffee was Mrs. George
Peck, aunt of the bride and Mrs.
Donald Peck, aunt of the bride,
served the punch. Miss Phyllis
Nolan had charge of the guest
book and at the gift table was
Mrs. Franklin Miles, ' cousin of
the bride.
Out of town guests were Mrs.
Walter Batsch, William Miller
and Mrs. Wilbur White of Port
land; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Peck
and son of Pilot Rock; Mr. and
Mrs. Clinton Batty, Mr. and Mrs.
Herbert Hardy, Mary Ellen Hardy

Honors Newlyweds
A party in honor of Mr. and
Mrs. Ivan McDaniel, who were
recently married, was held at the
IOOF hall in Hardman on Sun
day August 28.
The afternoon was spent in
playing games and opening of
gifts. Prizes were won by Archie
Bechdolt, Mrs. Sam McDaniel,
Collette Reese and Cleo Robinson.
The door prize was won by Mrs.
Norman Case.
Refreshments were served by
Mrs. Sam McDaniel, Mrs. Harold

Soroptimist Club Has
Business Meeting
The Soroptimist club held their
regular monthly business meet
ing Thursday noon at O'Don
nell's. Committee reports were given
and the plans for the float for
the parade were discussed.
The club has met all summer
but with no planned programs.
Beginning in September the regu
lar programs of speakers and
club members will be continued.

The past week has been very
very busy for football players,
coaches and parents alike. With
two practices a day, the first at
5:00 a. m., all parties involved
; know for sure that football is
again with us.
j Player Joe has been ironing
i out aches and pains, learning
new plays, adjusting to new
sleeping and enting schedules,
and above all, learning hjw to be
a man.
; Coaches Pryse and Pierce,
when not working with the boys
i have taken out of mothballs and
are using the familiar crying
towel that all coaches use at this
particular time of year.
Last, but not least, mom and
dad have been busy with these
early schedules, dieting and
helping son Joe iron out his aches
and pains. Our hats are off to the
unsung heroes, mom and dad.

teachers, parents and the com

installed in the cafeteria. The
