Baily-Campbell Vows
Read At St. John's
Church in Condon
St. John's Catholic church in
Condon was the scene Sunday
August 7, of the wedding of Miss
Martha Campbell, daughter of
VIr. Pat Campbell, to Mr. Truman
Saily, son of Mrs. Edna Baily
at Hansen, Idaho. The Rev.
William Roden officiated at the
two o'clock ceremony.
The bride given in marriage by
her father was lovely in a blue
embroidered white linen dress
with a matching white linen hat
and carried pink roses on a white
prayer book.
Maid of honor for her sister was
Miss Kathryn Campbell. She
wore an ice blue polished cotton
frock and carried a nosegay of
pink bouvardia and blue delphin
iums, with a headband to match
the nosegay. Both the bride and
maid of honor dresses were made
by a friend of the bride, Mrs. Har
vey Matlock of Hermiston.
Baskets of pink and white
gladioli decorated the church
Mrs. Helen Rondeau played the
wedding march and Mrs. Bill
Brown sang "Ava Maria" and
"Panis Angelicius".
' The prayer book carried by the
bride was borrowed from Mrs.
Tbm Bristow of lone. For some
thing old and something blue the
bride wore the traditional blue
garter trimmed with old lace.
The garter was made by Mrs.
Walter Anderson of Lewiston,
Idaho using lace from her wed
ding dress for the trim.
Les Hagen, Hermiston was best
man for the groom and ushers
were Harvey Matlock and Jim
Chisholm both of Hermiston.
Mrs. Art Bousquet of Umatilla
god mother of the bride, wore a
navy blue lace dress and a cor
sage of pink rosebuds..
Following the wedding, recep
tion was held in the Parish hall,
which was also decorated with
pink, white and blue motif. The
bride and groom cut the first
piece from the three tiered pink
and white wedding cake, Mrs.
Don Cook of Hermiston and Mrs.
Ted Palmer of Condon continued
with the cutting of the cake, Mrs.
James D. Burns and Mrs. William
Campbell, aunt of the bride,
poured. Mrs. Malcolm O'Brien
and Mrs. John Campbell both of
Heppner, served the punch. Mrs.
Jim Chisholm of Hermiston was
in charge of the gift table and
Mary Jane Anderson, Hermiston,
had charge of the guest book.
For the wedding trip the bride
wore a charcoal and black sum
mer cotton with patent accessor
ies and a black velvet hat. They
will be at home in Hermiston
where both the bride and groom
are teachers in the Hermiston
Mrs. Charles Beckett
Honored At Party
Mrs. Newt O'Hara and Mrs.
Walter Ruggles were co-hostesses
at a delightful patio party Tues
day, August 9 at the O'Hara
ranch home at Lexington, honor
ing Mrs. Charles Beckett of Port
land. Others attending besides the
hostesses and the honoree were
Mrs. Ben Anderson, Mrs. Kenneth
Blake, Mrs. Walter Beckett, Mrs.
Alvin Wagenblast, Mrs. Randall
Martin, Mrs. Harry Duvall, Mrs.
J. R. Huffman, Mrs. H. L. Case,
Mrs. Whitmer Wright and Mrs.
Kenneth Carpenter.
Guests were members of the
Alpha Circle of the Methodist
church to which Mrs. Beckett be
longed before moving to Portland
During the afternoon, a lunch
eon cloth was autographed by the
ladies and presented to Mrs
Beckett as a remembrance.

Jan Fancher Honored
With Birthday Party
Jan Fancher was the honoree at
a party given last Friday at the
Fancher home on the occasion of
h,er fourth birthday.
Guests were Nancy and Carol
Marshall, Brian Thompson, Jef-
fery Carter, Janey Dowen, Mark
Labhart, Judy Fancher, La Verne
Van Marter III and Bradley J.
Fancher.
After a peanut hunt and a fish
pond, small guests enjoyed birth
day cake and ice cream.

To Pinochle Club
Mrs. Earl Evans was hostess to
the Pinohle club for cards and
dessert Friday afternoon at her
home. Prizes were won by Mrs.
Fred Mankin, high; Mrs. Henry
Happold, second and Mrs. Sadie
Sigsbee, low.
Other guests were Mrs. Ed La-

Mrs. Bryant held high score and
Mrs. Cornet Green was second.

The bride is a graduate of St.
Mary's academy, The Dalles and
Eastern Oregon College of Edu
cation. She was chaperone for
the Heppner rodeo royal court
when her sister Kathryn was the
queen in 1953 and again in 1954
for queen Grace Miller.
Among the out of town guests
were, from Heppner, the bride's
brother and family, Mr. and Mrs.
John Campbell; her cousins, Mr.
and Mrs. Pat O'Brien, Gordon O'
Brien and Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm
O'Brien. Also from Heppner
were Miss Bess Huddleston and
Bob Van Schoiack.
Miss Colleen Ann (Judy) Smith,
daughter of Mrs. Alice Smith and
Hervel Pettyjohn, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Raymond Pettyjohn, were
married Saturday, August 13 at 5
o'clock in the afternoon at St
Patrick's Catholic church, with
Rev. Francis McCormack officiat-ing.
The bride, given in marriage by
her cousin, R. A1. Solvester of The
Dalles, was dressed in a chapel
length gown of ivory chrystelette
nylon. Her shoulder length veil
was caught with a tiara of orange
blossoms and she carried a white
orchid in her white Bible.
The maid of honor, Miss Gail
Christy of The Dalles, wore a
dusty rose ballerina length dress
with head dress of white daisies
and carried a nosegay of white
rose buds. Bridesmaids, Miss
Sharon Rupe of Portland and Miss
Judy Wright of Heppner were
gowned in powder blue ballerina
length dresses and wore crowns
of white Ester Reed daisies in
their hair, and carried nosegays
of white carnations.

john, brother of the groom and
ushers were Delmer Buschke and
Matthew Hughes of Heppner. The
flower girl was Betty Jean Petty
john, sister of the groom and
Chris Lovgren was the ring bear
er. Miss Marilyn Munkers sang
Ave Maria, accompanied by Miss
Marguerite Glavey, who also
played the wedding marches.
Arrangements of white gladi
oli were used in the church and
pink gladoli were used in the
church parlors where the recep
tion was held following the cere-
mony.
Mrs. E. C. Dougherty, aunt of
the bride, and Mrs. R. A. Sol
vester served the cake after the
first piece was cut by the bride
and groom. At the punch bowl
was Mrs. Ray Hughes, sister of
the groom.

Mrs. Alice Smith, mother of the
bride, and Mrs. Raymond Petty
john, mother of the groom. As
sisting about the rooms were Mrs.
Howard Pettyjohn and Mrs. Mel
vin Piper. Mrs. Joe Wright who

Family Held Sunday
On Court House Lawn
The annual Rauch reunion was
held on the court house lawn in
Heppner Sunday August 14.
A potluck dinner was served at
one o'clock, followed by a busi
ness meeting.
