SUNDAY RECEPTION HONORS 50TH
ANNIVERSARY OF E. R. LUNDELLS

A golden wedding anniversary
reception was held in honor of Mr.
and Mrs. Ernest R. Lundell in the
lone Community church parlors
Sunday Dec. 26 from 2 to 5 p. m.
Around 150 people attended.
The rooms were decorated in
the Christmas motif and the
table, covered with a lace cloth,
was centered with ,the three
tiered anniversary wedding cake
topped with a miniature bride
and groom and surrounded with
gold carnations and holly. Gold
candles were also on the table,
After Mr. and Mrs. Lundell cut
the first piece of the cake, the
rest was served by Mrs. Mray
Swanson assisted by Mrs. Adon
Hamlett; Mrs. Algott Lundell
served the groom's cake. Mrs. Les.
ter Baker poured the coffee and
Mrs. Anna Lindstrom poured the
tea; Mrs. Oscar Lundell presided
at the punch bowl ; Mrs. Eldon
Tucker and Mrs. Dolores Rowell
had charge of the gift table and
Dianna Pettyjohn and Judy and
Geraldine Morgan welcomed the
guests and had charge -of the
guest book. Later Mrs. Garland
Swanson served the wedding
cake, Mrs. Raymond Lundell ser
ved the groom's cake, Mrs. Mil
ton Morgan and Mrs. Franklin
Lindstrom poured and Mrs. Roy
Lindstrom served the nunch.
A wedding picture of the Lun-
rells and pictures of their child
ren were on one of the tables,
also, gifts they received 50 years
ago. Assisting about the rooms
were Mrs. Wallace Matthews,
Mrs. Berl Akers, Mrs. Earl Mc
Cabe and Mardine Baker.
The following program was
given during the reception: Miss
Esther Mae Baker sang "Because"
and "God Gave Me You" and
Adon Hamlett sang "0 Promise
Me" and "The End of a Perfect
Day". They were accompanied
by Mrs. Cleo Drake; Mrs. E. M.
Baker played "Liebestraum" on
the piano and Rev. Alfred Shirley
gave a few remarks suitable for
the occasion.
Ernest Richard Lundell and
Lena Pearl Baker were married
at the Valby Lutheran church in i
Gooseberry, Dec. 25, 1904. They '
lived in the Gooseberry commun.
Ity until 1915 when they moved
to their present home in lone.
Their six children were all pre
sent at the reception. They are
Richard Lundell of Pendleton,
Frank Lundell of Milwaukie, Mrs.
Gladys Drake, Mrs. Mildred Mor
gan, Mrs. Helen Pettyjohn and
Norton Lundell of lone. 14 of
their 16 grandchildren and 3 of
their 5 great grandchildren were
present. Mrs. Lundell's brother,
Lester Baker of Walla wana ana
Mr. Lundell's brothers and sis
ters, Mrs. Anna Lindstrom, Mrs.
Mary Swanson, Oscar Lundell
and Algott Lundell we're preseni.
Mrs. Lundell wore an orchid
and Mr. Lundell a gold carnation
for the occasion.

bors of Mr. and Mrs. Frank E.
Parker honored them with a pot
luck dinner and party on Satur
day December 18 at the Rhea
Creek grange hall in celebration
of their 50th wedding anniver
sary. After dinner a Christmas tree
and program was enjoyed and
the Parkers were presented a gift

The Lexington grade school
held its annual Xmas program in '
thp hteh auditorium before a full
house, on Thursday evening. The
beginning of the program con
cistpri nf some beautiful tableaus
to the music of the grade school
chorus under the direction oi
Lawrence Brent with Mrs. Brent
as accompanist. The chorus boys
and girls were dressed in dark
skirts and white blouses, ana
dark pants with white shirts, and
wore blue ties. This was the
first public appearance of the
grade school choir and was well
received by the public. Follow
ing this part of the program the
primary grades, dressed as dif
ferent toys, gave a most enter
taining program, and following
this Santa appeared with his
sleigh being drawn by 8 small
boys as reindeer and treats were
distributed.
Dinner guests at the Dona Bar-
nett and Trina Parker homes
last week one night were: Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Parker of Hepp
ner and Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell of
Tacoma, Washington who is a
house guest of the Parkers. Also
visiting there that evening was
Mrs. Earl Warner, girlhood friend
of Mrs. Mitchell.
Mr. and Mrs. W. E. McMillan
returned Thursday evening from
a business trip to Portland, wnere
they took Ray McAllister who en
tered the Oddfellow's home there.
They also visited Mr. and Mrs.
Elmer Pomeroy, sister or Mr. Mc
Millan and an aunt of Mrs. Lou
Broadley. Mrs. Broadley who has
recently been in the hospital is
greatly improved and able to be
home.
