The M. M. M. club held its an
nual Christmas dinner and meet
ing at the Anna Earhardt home
with 14 persons present. After
the dinner a short meeting was
held and a game with the prize
winners being Martha Matteson
and Wave Jackson. The door
prize was won by Mrs. Alta
Wright. The club's white ele
phant was drawn by Mamie Fer
gerson. The next meeting will be
at the Grace Stirritt home Janu
ary 6 when members will draw
names for their secret pals for
the year. Instead of exchang
ing gifts between members they
were boxed and sent to the state
hospital at Pendleton.
Mr. and Mrs. Steve Kincaid and
Tommy spent last weekend in
Piineville and Bend.
A pink and blue shower was
held December 17 for Mrs. Vern
McCarty at the Ray Davis home.
Twenty-two ladies were present
and many gifts were sent by ones
who couldn't attend. Game prizes
were won by Gladys Jewell and
Mrs. S. E. Lewis. The door prize
was won by Martha Matteson.
After the opening of gifts, re
freshments were served by Mrs.
Ray Davis, Mrs. Vic DuBosch, and
Mrs. Richard Cox.
Friday night Dec. 17, the Ameri-
can Legion and Auxiliary held
their annual Christmas party
where Santa Claus passed out
sacks of candy to the children and
everyone exchanged- gifts. Dis
cussion was held on the Gay 90s
dance which will be held Jan. 22.
The rest of the evening was spent
in playing cards.
A miscellaneous shower was
held Saturday afternoon for the
family who were burned out on
Thursday morning. There was
also a good turnout Saturday
night for the bnefit dance for the
Geiger family.
Elmer Matteson was in Hepp
ner one day last week for build
ing supplies.
Delsie Sweek has finished
quilting the quilt for the club.
Well, Santa is surely busy this
time of the year. Last Sunday the
Saint Anns and the Community
church both had their programs
last Sunday evening and he was
busy at both.
Harlan Gentry moved to Pen
dleton where he will work.
Mr. and Mrs. Mike Hutchinson,
Joe and Dale Whitaker motored
to Pendleton Monday to do their
Christmas -shopping. Jessie Mat
teson took care of the four child
ren while they were gone.
Ida Bleakman has gone to Cecil
to spend two months with her
daughter, Mrs. Herb Hynd.
Vern Matteson was in for the
weekend from Cecil.
Lee Slocum has gone to Hepp
ner for the rest of the winter. He
will be with his son Jack Slocum
and wife.
