Polly Pal Club Has
Christmas Party
The Polly Pal club of Mistletoe
Rebekah lodge had its annual
Christmas party at the Oddfel
lows hall on the evening of Dec.
14.
There was a decorated Christ
mas tree, exchange of gifts and
refreshments.

urday evening in honor of her
husband's birthday.
The Christmas theme was used
throughout the rooms with pine
bought and candles predominat
ing. The guests were Mr. and Mrs.
P. W. Mahoney, Dr. and Mrs. E,
K. Schaffitz, Mr. and Mrs. Claude
Graham, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Pen-
land, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kelly,

ess. Bridge Party Held
At Cox Home Monday
Mrs. William Cox was hostess
at her home Monday evening for
two tables of dessert bridge.
Those present were Mesdames
L. E. Dick, Herman Green, Floyd
Jones, Cornett Green. Howard
Bryant, Paul Jones, Robert Fer
rell and Ike Cole.
First prize was won by Mrs.
Floyd Jones and Mrs. Howard
Bryant was second.

And Oddfellows
Have Party

The Oddfellows and Holly Re
bekah lodges held their regular
meeting last Thursday night in
the lodge hall. The meetine was
called to order by the N. G. Aud
rey Ansted, after which the min
utes were read and approved, the
sick were sent greetings and
cards. After the meeting the
Oddfellows joined the ladies in
the lower hall and games were
played and refreshments of cake
and ice cream were served to the
following: Mr. and Mrs. George
Irvin, Mr. and Mrs. Oris Padberg,
Mr. and Mrs. W. E. McMillan,
Mr and Mrs. E. E. Peck, Mr. and
Mrs. C. C. Jones, June Cooper,
Audrey Ansted, Cora Warner,
Donna Papineau, James Davis,
Adolph and Gene Majecke and
Mose Duran of Heppner. Prizes for
the games were won by Gene
Majeske and W. E. McMillan.
Hostesses for the party were Mrs.
Audrey Ansted, Cora Warner,
June Cooper, and Jo Irvin.
Mr. and Mrs Leonard Munkers
are the proud parents of a baby
boy born at Pioneer Memorial
hospital on Sunday of this week.
Mr. and Mrs. W. E. McMillan
motored to Portland Monday
taking Rav McAllister to that citv
where he will enter the Oddfel
lows home for the aged on Tues
day. Ray has made this his
home for a good many years and
will be greatly missed here as
well as by his many friends in
Heppner.
Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Ruhl and
sons spent the weekend in Wal
lowa and Lnterprise.
Reports that the Lexington
school was robbed Saturday night
sometime after the ball game.
The amount taken was about
78 dollars. No trace of the thieves
have been found.
Norman Ruhl of the U. S. Armv
is visiting his parents Mr. and
Mrs. Otto Ruhl.

and church held their Christmas
program at 7:30 p. m. on Sunday
night with the beginners under
the direction of Mrs. Don Camp
bell, Mrs. Ken Peck, and Mrs.

where Mr. Jones is employed.
The city of Lexington held their
regular election at the city hall
on Tuesday with the following
ladies working on the election

A pre-Christmas party is being
planned In the journalism class.
Creative gifts are to be ex
changed. Refreshments of coca
cola, sandwiches, cup cakes, and
pop corn balls will be served.
A candy sale was held Novem-
her 16 at noon hour by "Quill and
Scroll" members. A net profit of
315,75 was realized.
The Heppner high students give
cheers to the student body for ob-
aining two davenos for the stuay
hall. These davenos were se
cured from war surplus.
Christmas spirit has flourished
in the halls and class rooms of
Heppner high. The senior room
is very impressive with a pink
tree and icicles. Boughs outline
the blackboard, with Christmas
scenes on the board. Santa's face
decorates the door, with his cot
ton whiskers and freckled face.
Mr. W. J. Popham, teacher at
H. H. S. has been opening up the
gym on Saturday afternoons so
all students hay have some in
door recreation.
Elgin and Enterprise families
were hosts to our basketball boys
over the weekend. A dance was
enjoyed at both towns and all the
boys came home telling how
much they appreciated their gen
erous hospitality.

at school.
The boys Home Ec. class en
joyed their classwork while
working on the project of break
fasts. The boys worked in groups
and prepared a menu of bacon,
liver, ham. eggs, much, baking
powder biscuits.milk and tomato,
juice. This was a tasty, hearty,
meal any "Man" would enjoy.
