We are planning nine or ten for Morrow County. We would like to scatter them out again through out all of the vari ous wheat producing areas. We are anxious to have plots wnere no fertilizer has been applied. The plots consist of approximate ly 100 x 200 feet. The plot should be characteristic of the uniform ity of the field. Should be seeded as the other field with fertilizer annlictions applied bv the col lege. Applications, both fall and spring will be made, soil samples taken to determine nitrogen con tent and the plots harvested for yield data. Consigned were 3S0 cattle com pared with 278 the previous Fri day, 214 hogs compared with 106, and 253 sheep compared with 21. Demand on the part of packers feedlot buyers and an increased number of farmer buyers who have completed initial harvest operations and seek sttx'ker cat tle was broad and active, the long sale involving a total of 847 head going briskly. Quality was generally below the previous week except for fat grain on grass heifers including choice grade, steady at $22.00 cwt., and better quality on sows, up 40c over the previous high to a top of $21.90 cwt., and fat hogs, up 70c to $25.20 cwt. Although bulls and veal were also of bet ter quality, -prices were down slightly on both. Lack of grain fed fat slaughter steers which the previous week brought $22.00 cut the price to $19.10 for the grass animals. Demonstrations will begin at 9:00 a. m. in the cafetaria of; the school. At 10:15 the bread baking contest and the cake bak ing contest are scheduled to start Following this, a picnic lunch will be enjoyed by 4-H members, friends and leaders. . All guests, leaders, and club members will bring a lunch. Demonstrations will continue after lunch. The Irrigon clothing club girls are asked to give their demon strations first so that the teams from Boardman will be able to arrive on time. The agricultural club members in the poultry and rabbit club and the electric club may give their demonstrations during the day. Mrs. Lloyd Cooley is superin tendent for the demonstration day. The judge will be Mrs. Kern Tellefson of Hermiston. The 4-H demonstration day is open to the public. This day has been planned so that winning contestants may try out lor county winners during the fair at Heppner.
