Reception Celebrates
50th Wedding Anniversary
Of Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Wilcox
Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Wilcox'
were honored on their 50th wed
ding anniversary with a dinner
and reception at the home of
their daughter and husband, Mr.
and Mrs. John Graves on Sunday
August 15.
They were married August 17,
1904 by the Rev. C. J. Jones at the
home of the bride's parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Joe EsUelson of Lexing
ton. Miss Nellie Eskelson and Law
rence Palmer were their attend
ants and were themselves later
married.
At the reception, the first piece
of, the three tiered wedding cake
was cut by the bride and groom.
The cake was decorated with
gold leaf and an arch inscribed
with a gold 50 covered the minia
ture bride and groom that topped
the cake. Mrs. Earl Eckelson
continued with the cutting, Mrs.
Kathryn Daniels poured and Mrs.
Josie Fredrickson presided at the
punch bowl. Mrs. Charles Wil
cox had charge of the guest book,
and other relatives and friends
assisted in the serving for both
the dinner and reception.
Many lovely gifts and cards
were received by the couple,
many from those unable to at
tend. Those present included all of
their children, 11 grandchildren
and eight great grandchildren,
who are Mr. and Mrs. Edwin
Brosten and family, of Bovil, Ida
ho; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wilcox
and family, Hermiston; Mr. and
Mrs. Claude Wilcox and family,
Sandy; Mr. and Mrs. Lester Wil
cox and family, Hermiston; Mr.
and Mrs. Glenn Wilcox, Portland;
Mr. and Mrs. John Graves and
Deane, Heppner.

moving from Heppner soon.

tended the movie.
RECENT PORTLAND WEDDING was that of John H. Fastaband and
Constance Ruggles, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. R iggles of
Heppner. The couple will live in Portland where he will attend
Portland University.

Soroptimists Enjoy
Steak Fry Thursday
About 30 Soroptimist members
and their guests enjoyed a steak
fry on the court house lawn
Thursday evening. The losing
team in an attendance contest
were entertaining the winning
team, and the winning team pro
vided the entertainment.
Those on the winning side
gave a parade of the United Na
tions and Miss Leta Humphreys
told something about Yucatan
and Mrs. Loyal Parker read a
short article on America.
Queen Grace Miller, Queen of
the rodeo, and the princesses,
their mothers and ehaperone will
be guests of the club at their
next meeting.

Meeting Tuesday
The Beta Omega chapter of Ep
silon Sigma Alpha met at the
lone Legion hall Thursday even
ing August 12.
The schedule for the coming
year was discussed and the two
meetings in September were set
aside for rushing. $200 was
turned over to the lone school
districiofor the chapters donation
to the wading pool. This was
given to Mrs. Roland Bergstrom,
school clerk.
Discussion of a float in the
Heppner rodeo parade wos held.
It was also decided that the mem
bers serve refreshments at inter
mission at the princess dance
August 21 in Heppner.

have gone on to win honors at
other shows. If you really want

your straw hat and do your own
judging, on the side. You will
