lone Area Harvest Soon in Full Swing

Harvest is in full swing on the
north side of lone and in Morgan
and will get under way in the
Gooseberry country the last of
the week. The yield is around 23
bushels per acre and weighing
more than 60 lbs a bushel.
Forsythe Boylan drove up from
his home in Oakland, Calif. Fri
day of last week and. visited at
the O. L. Lundell home. He and
Kenneth Lundell returned to Oak
land the first of the week.
At the Vvniows grange meet
ing Saturday evening it was voted
to dispense with the August
meeting. Degree work will be
put on; at the September meet
ing. Wayne White returned from a
Portland hospital last week where
he was a patient following a
back operation.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hoskins
are the parents of a daughter born
Monday July 19 at the Pioneer
Memorial hospital in Heppner.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hoskins Sr. of
lone and Mrs. Roger McCormack
of Everett, Wash., are the grandparents.-
Mrs. Addie Salter of
lone is the great grandmother. .
Rev. Earl L. Soward, pastor of
the Christian church in Heppner
conducted services at the Com
munity church Sunday morning.
His son, Marvin sang two solos
accompanied by Mrs. E. M. Baker.
Word was received from Rev.
and Mrs. Alfred Shirley who have
been patients in The Dalles hos
pital. They expect to return to
lone this week. He hopes to con
duct services this Sunday but if
not able, services will be held by
Rev. Soward.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Helina and
son, John of, Seattle and Mrs.
Warren Crutcher of Gresham are
visiting Mrs. Anna Lindstrom.
Mrs. Helina and Mis. Crutcher are
daughters of Mrs. Lindstrom.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Daniels
and daughter of Kennewick,
Wash., spent Sunday with her
cousin and family, Mr. and Mrs.
Roy Lindstroni.
Sirs. Cecil Thome is a patient
in the Pioneer Memorial hospital
in Heppner.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Burgoyne of
Los Angeles visited at the home
of their niece and family, Mr. and
Mrs. Kenneth Smouse last week.
Mrs. Ted Palmateer is a pa
tient in the Pioneer Memorial
hospital in Heppner.
Miss Dolores Hanson of Port
land spent last week with her
sister, Mrs. Donald Peterson.
Mrs. Edna Yamell of Portland
is visiting her daughter and fam
ily, Mr. and Mrs. Charles O'Con
nor. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Devine and
children of Eugene were recent
visitors of his aunt, Mrs. Ernest
Helikor.
Members of the St. Patrick
church of Heppner and the St.
Williams church of lone enjoyed
a picnic politick dinner at the St.
Williams church Sunday. A large
crowd attended. Some went
swimming in the afternoon.
Mrs. Garland Swnnson and
daughter, Jean Ann went to Her
miston Monday.
Mrs. Ernest Heliker was a re
cent visitor in Seattle.

U. S. Senator.
Mr. and, Mrs. L. D. Sorensen of
Dalles Port, Wash., are working
at the Charles Carlson 's during
harvest.
A picnic was planned at the
II. E. C. of Willows grange meet
ing Friday July 16 at the Grange
hall. The picnic will be at the
I II camp grounds on Herron
Creek in the mountains August
22 for grangers and families and
friends. Mrs. Harry Yamell and
Mrs. Leo Crabtree were hostesses
at the H. E. C. meeting.
The Garden club met at the
home of Mrs. O. L. Lundell July
