Jack Crum retruned home from
Arlington Sunday where he has
been visiting at the home of his
uncle, Dutch Strahm.
Delmar Crawford was elected

music. The program Friday even
ing at 7:45 will consist of a pup
pet show by the primary, a skit
by the beginners and a pageant
by the juniors. A picnic will be
held Thursday and the treasure
chest will be opened Friday
morning. The school will end
June 18th.

James Lindsay and Mrs. Lewis
Halvorsen returned home from
Portland where they attended the
Eastern Star Grand Chapter con
vention. Mrs. Bert Mason of Port
land returned home with Mrs
McMillan. Mrs. Jack Forsythe of
Portland also was present at the
convention. She is a member of
the local chapter.
Fredrick Martin left Monday
for Portland where he will attend
the Methodist church conference.
Mrs. Etta Huston and Mrs.
Edith Nichoson returned home on
Friday of last week from the Re
gional and State convention of
the Garden clubs. They reported
a very successful convention.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul O'Meara re
turned home from The Dalles last
week where he took treatments
in the hospital there.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Yarnell
spent a few days last week with
their son Clifford in Vancouver,
Wash. .
Those from here who received
honors at the 4-H fat stock show
in The Dalles last week were:

on a Hereford and grand cham
pion on all breeds; Duane Baker,
champion on a shorthorn and
grand champion showmanship;
Bill Branner, reserve champion on
shorthorn. Mardine Baker and
Kenneth Nelson made good show
ings on their lambs.
Mr. and Mrs. Noel Dobyns were
Portland visitors last week. Mrs.
Dobyns returned to Portland this
week.
The Women of the St. Williams
Altar Society gave a bridal show
er in honor of Mrs. Patrick Do
herty Tuesday of last week in the
basement of the Catholic church.
She recei'ed many lovely gifts.
Rev. and Mrs. Wilfred McKay
and son Niel are attending the
Assembly of the Northwest Dis
trict of Nazarene churches in
Spokane, this week and Mrs.
Arthur Brownlow of Heppner who
is also a delegate. The McKays
grand children went with them to
their home in Chewelah, Wash.

Cpl. Clifford Aldrlch received
Junp 5 at Fort Lewis and is visit
ing his mother, Mrs. Monetta Aid
rich. He has been on Hoikieda
Island, near Japan.
Mr. and Mrs. John Eubanks and
daughter, Sandra, attended the
wedding of Miss Claudia Morgan
and James Heator at Tekoa,
Wash., Sunday. Miss Morgan is
a daughter ot Air. anu mis.
Claude Morgan of Tekoa and is a
cousin of Mrs. Eubanks.

held at Emigrant park near Pen
