School Notes

We wish to compliment our
basketball teams on their out
conies last week. On Friday,
Feb. 5 the 7th and 8th grades
went to Arlington and came
home the victors. That same
evening the A and B strings were
ictors hero over last year's State
champions, ICcno. We are very
happy for one, but wish to com
pliment the Echo school for their
fine sportsmanship for after all
we feel that this is the most im
portant for the good will of the
school and for character building
than anything else.
We were again victors over
Lexington Saturday evening here
Feb. (i. We now have won 11
games and no defeats, and are
very proud of the fact that all
the hoys represented on the team
are in good standing in their
studies and in citizenship.

here Feb. 12 and with Stanfield
here Feb. l.'f. This will be the
end of the home schedule. After
the game Saturday evening the
Ciil's League will put on their
annual Valentine dance in the
old gym. All parents and friends
v. ho wish to attend are welcome.
The game with Keho will be
there Feb. Hi and with Irrigon
there Feb. 1!). The Tournament
will be hehl in Keho Feb. 25, 26,
and 27.
The 1st and 2nd grades have a
very fine Valentine display on
Hip bulletin board in the main
hall. This is a fine piece of work,
and conies out of their class pro
ject. Mrs. James Mallon is the
teacher.

the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and .1th grades
between the two games and the
halves.

Mr. and Mrs. (Uowi liases were
in Heppner on business Thursday.
Mrs. Homer Davis stayed at the
store during their absence.
Mrs. Lewis Cason, Sieve and
Peggy Eslberg came over for the
411 club meetings Thursday af
ternoon at the school. Mrs. Lewis
Cason and Mrs. Fete Ilaynes ser
ved refreshments.
Mr. and Mrs. Mat' Ion Hick;;,
Ruby and Km pry Matthews, and
Mr. l'eter Ilaynes visited at the
George Fichier ranch on Thurs
day. I'ele Ilaynes was initiated in
the Oddfellows lodge at Ilardman
Saturday night. Afterward, he
and Otna Cox played for the
March of Dimes dance at Rhea
Creek. Mrs. Haynes, Mr. and Mrs.
Mattlon Hicks, Mrs. Mary Cason
and Jimmy also allended.
A large flock of robins stripped
the berries from the large Juniper
tree at the Ilaynes home Friday.
Several evening grosbeaks were
also seen. Floyd I'ullcn reported
a huge flock of robins on his
feed ground.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hayes of
Condon spent Saturday with his
parents, Mr. ad Mrs. Glenn Hayes.
Mr. Hill Conboy brought his
wife and infant daughter, Viola
Lynn, home from Ihe hospital on
Saturday. The Conboys have an
other daughter, Kalliy.
Mr. and Mrs. Guy Iluddlcston
returned home from the valley
Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Cecil McDaniel
and Slevie have been visiting at
Ihe Km met Davis home this
week. On Saturday, Homer and
Carroll Davis, anil Cecil McDaniel
made a business trip to Condon.
James Campbell and J. ('. Mor
gan attended the stock sale at
Yakima over the weekend.

Mr .and Mrs. Larry DeBondt and
daughter of Forest Grove were
weekend guests of their son and
brother, Russell DeBondt.
Hurt In Accident
Karl Morgan received a cracked
rib in an auto accident one day
last week while coming from
Condon. His car turned over
once on the road just as he turn
ed off the highway at Ole.x. The
car was damaged some but he
was able to drive it home.
Mrs. Kdith iNichoson is a p;
tieut in the Pioneer Memorial
hospital in Heppner.
Mrs. Maud Casswell county ex
tension agent, conducted a meet
ing on landscaping at the Com
munity church Thursday of last
week. She told of the different
kinds of plants adapted to Mor
row county also showed slides of
speeimines and gardens and
yards in this community. Movies
were also shown. At the busi
ness meeting Mrs. E. M. Baker
told of the different foods served
in Canada during her attendance
of the Associated Country women
of the World at Toronto last sum
mer and that it was customary to
serve much bread in Canada. A
notluck dinner was served at
noon and many Swedish dishes
were served. There were 20 mem
bers present.
The 3rd and 4th degrees were
given to 4 candidates at the
grange hall Sunday afternoon. A
notluck dinner was served at here Sunday. Alecia Swales of
noon to a large crowd. Hermislon came with them and
Mr and Mrs. Francis Troedson visited her grandfather, Henry
of Ilermiston visited relatives I Clark.
