Lex Grange Seats
New Officers At
Impressive Ceremony
Mrs. Karl Miller had for her
lecture hour at the Lexington
Grange Jan. 2 a program of re
tiring the 1953 officers and seat
ing the new officers of the
Grange.
Mrs. Doris Graves, acting mar
shall for the retiring officers
presented Mrs. Helen Nelson at
the Altar to the lecturer and in
behalf of the members of the
Grange she extended congratula
tions for the fine work they had
done and presented each with a
corsage. Mrs. Faye Munkers, H.
E. C. chairman was also received
at the Altar and was given con
gratulations and a corsage.
Acting stewards, Helen Nelson
and Ted McMillan aided with the
seating of the new officers and
Charlene Jones carried a gold
gilded basket holding corsages
and boutonnieres of office. Edith
Miller, lecturer, escorted each of
ficer preceeded by the flower girl,
under the staves held by the
stewards to their stations and ex
tended to each congratulations
on behalf of the Grange members
and presented them with their
flowers. Also to each member
a gold link was given to make
a golden chain which signifies
the holding together the mem
bers of the Grange in faith, hope
and charity.
Lucia Cutsforth was musician
during the ceremony.
Bookworms Meet At
Peterson Home
Mrs. Ture Peterson was hostess
for the Bookworm club Tuesday
evening January 12.
Mrs. C. W. McNamer reviewed
two books dealing with Persia.
This was a delayed Christmas
party and after the program, gifts
were exchanged and refresh
ments served to Mesdames J. O.
Turner, C. W. McNamer, Luola
Bengtson, Fred Parrish, Floyd
Jones, James Thomson, Ted
Smith, Cornett Green, Lucy Rod
gers, Gertrude Applegate, Miss
Lulu Hager and the hostess.
Italian Dinner
Held at Thompsons
Mr. and Mrs. Alex Thompson
entertained at their home Satur
day evening with an Italian din
ner party.
The meal was served in the
small breakfast room which was
decorated in an Italian motive. A
red checkered tablecloth was
used and candlelight prevailed
throughout the room.
Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Brad
ley Fancher, Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy
Gardner, Mr. and Mrs. Willard
Blake and Mr. and Mrs. William
Labhart.

On Safety To The
Soroptimist Club
State policeman William Lab
hart was guest speaker at the
Soroptimist club luncheon on
Thursday January 14 at O'Don
nell's. His subject was safety and he
gave a comprehensive report, in
cluding statistics about the
cause of accidents, the age brack
et in which they most often occur
and some rules of Safety. He said
the best rule was to use good
common sense.
