After his talk he ans wered many questions from the audience on the climate, schools etc. in his country. Other num bers on the program which was conducted by Mrs. Alfred Nelson, were: Thanksgiving poems by Miss Anna Winecoff, a vocal solo by Mrs. Claude Riley, and three violin solos by Mrs. Kenneth Smouse. It was derided not to hold a meeting in Dec. on ac count of the community tree and program. The hostesses for the evening were Mrs. Ida Coleman, Mrs. Clell Rea, Mrs. Garland Swanson and Mrs. Delbert Emert. The P-TA will sponsor the sale of tickets for the basketball games with St. Joseph Dec. 18 and 19. Mrs. Wate Crawford and sons, Arthur and Rollo, Mr. and Mrs. Delmer Crawford and Marilyn and Gary Morgan went to Helix Friday evening to attend a high school play there. Mrs. Crawford's grandson, Rodney Crawford was in the play. Mrs. Donald Peterson and child dren left for Portland Saturday morning. A meeting was held at the home of Mrs. Delmer Crawford Thursday of last week for the purpose of organizing the Epsi Ion Sigma Alpha sorority. The officers elected were Mrs. Loren Leathers, president; Mrs. Robert Rietmann, vice president; Mrs. Corliss McLeod, secretary; Mrs. Walter Corley, corresponding sec retary; Mrs. Ted Palmateer, treas urer. There were 14 members present. The group will attend a banquet at Arlington Monday evening. Mrs. Robert Jepsen and daugh ter are visiting in Pendleton this weekend while Mr. Jepsen is elk hunting. The school band gave their fall concert Friday evening with David Raskin as their leader. Judy Howton played a solo on the saxophone, Sax-Caprice, ac companied by Mrs. L. L. Howton. Mrs. Earl King is visiting at the home of her son, James L. Lindsay. C of Willows grange meeting at the Walter Corley home Friday Nov. 20; Mrs. Corliss McLeod, chairman; Mrs. David McLeod, vice chairman; Mrs. Lewis Halvorsen, secretary; and Mrs. James Lindsay, treas urer. Mrs. Corliss McLeod as sisted Mrs. Corley with the enter taining. Mrs. Lester Farrar of Junction City visited her daughter, Mrs. David McLeod last week. The American Legion Auxil iary met at the hall Tuesday of last week with Mrs. Cleo Drake, Mrs. Eldon Tucker and Mrs. Phil Emert as hostesses. Gifts were brought for the Gift Shop for the Portland hospital. These gifts should be in by Dec. 1. A pot luck dinner was decided on Dec. 15 in the evening at the Legion hall. Mrs. Harvey Ring entertained the Three Links Club at her home Thursday of last week. They decided to hold a pie and coffee sale, a food and fancy work sale at the Rebekah hall, Dec. 5 beginning at 1 p. m. The next Three Links meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. E. R. Lundell Doc. 17. Each member is requested to bring $1 to be given to charity. A Stork shower was given in honor of Mrs. Ralph Crum at the Ida Grabill home Thursday of ast week. She received many lovely gifts. Mr. and Mrs. Milton Morgan spent last week in Portland. Mr. Morgan attended a rural school board meeting in Eugene Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Stract and children of Oakland, Calif., visit ed at the home of her mother Mrs. Echo Palmateer this week. Word was received that Hel mut ri Hermann is well along in his first year at the University of Oregon Dental school in Port land. The 4 year course leads to the degree of doctor of dental medicine. After leaving lone high school Hermann attended the University of Oregon and gained his bachelor of arts degree in 1953 at Oregon dental school, he is one of 76. Monument Grange Elects Officers For Coming Year By Millie Wilson The Grange held their meeting to elect officers a week early. It was held Saturday Nov. 11. Wayne Leathers was re-elected Master; Reta Cupper was re-elected Treas pror; Edith Batty was re-elected Secretary; Jim Wedgeworth elec ted Overseer; Ray Cork, elected Steward; Lewis Battv, Assistant 1 Steward; Helen Holmer, Lady Assistant Steward; Onida Cork, Lecturer; Effie Wedgeworth, Po mona; Ethel Leathers. Ceres; Pearl Martin, Flora; Clarence Holmes, Charles Roach, and Henry Cupper were appointed as Executive Committee; Lyle Van Dusen, Gate keeper. Eighteen members of the M. M. M. Club met at the home of Rose Miller last Thursday. Final plans were checked for the dance and supper Nov. 20. Daisy Riley won the door prize and Olive Cox won the White Elephant. Two new members joined; Mary Russell and Pearl Martin. The next meeting will be at the home of Grace Stirritt. Fred Shank and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Gienger spent the past week in Portland.
