Parent-Teachers
Reception Held
Wednesday Night
The annual Parent-Teachers
reception was held at the Ameri
can Legion hall Wednesday night
September 23 with approximately
170 parents ana teacners attend-

First Birthday Party
Kathie Ernsdorff was guest of
honor at a dinner party given
by her mother Mrs. John Erns
dorff, on Wednesday evening
September 23, in honor of her
first birthday.
The guests were Mr. and Mrs.
Jeff Carter, Mike, Jeffery and
Gregory; Mr. and Mrs. George
Wardner; Mr. and Mrs. John erns
dorff, Jack, Eddie and Kathie.
FAREWELL PARTY HELD
A farewell party for Miss Mar
tha Tapanainen, county health
nurse, and Miss Colleen Connor,
secretary to the county school
superintendent, was given by
members of the court house staff
at the court house Monday after
noon. Each received a gift from
the group with Judge Garnett
Barratt making the presentation
Ice cream and cake was served
Miss Connor is leaving for Spo
kane, Wash., and Miss Tapanai
nen is taking a position at Kla
math Falls.

Many Entries in
Flower Show Held
At lone Sunday

The flower show sponsored by
the Garden club held in the new
cafetorium Sunday was a great
success. There were around 200
entries. The theme of the show
was Autumn Glory. The room
was decorated with a white arbor
covered with ivy, white gates and
picket fences with rows of flow
ers and shrubs on each side.
Other decorations were corn and
other fall vegetables, Mrs. Fred
rick Martin won sweepstakes for
adults and Jean Martin sweep
stakes for children. These were
determined by the largest num
ber of blue ribbons received.

leported over 100 persons signing
it. Mrs. Leslie Grant of Heppner
received the door prize. A silver
tea was also held with Mrs. Harry
Yarnell and Mrs. Leonard Carlson
pouring.

Soroptimists Hear
Districting Plan
Mrs. W. O. George explained to
the Somoptimist club at their
luncheon meeting at O'Donnell's
on Thursday September 24, the
plan for districting the Northwest
region. According to this plan
the Soroptimists would hold a
regional conference only in the
spring. In the fall they would
have their district conferences.
Miss Leta Humphreys and Mrs.
Pearl Devine were elected as al
ternates to the Yakima confer
ence to be held October 91011.
In the past the club has sent
boxes of clothing to Korea at
Christmas time, but it was de
cided to join the churches and
send the boxes now before winter.
It was announced the annual
card party would be held Octo
ber 26 in the basement of the
Catholic church.
