COUNTY COURT
PROCEEDINGS
The minutes of the March term
were read and approved.
The Budget committee of Mor
row County met May 1, 1953 to
draw up a budget for Morrow
County for the fiscal year 1953
1954. Members of this committee
are Homer Hayes, of Irrigon, Ken
neth Smouse of lone, and John
Ilanna Sr. of Heppner.
The following Bangs' disease
claims were ordered paid: Oren O.
Brace $8.00; Harry T. O'Donnell
Jr. $8.00; Dwight Hulit $24.00; G.
Ralph Bearner $16.00 and Ralph
Jackson $48.00.
The Court ordered a public
hearing upon the establishment
of a cemetery maintenance dis
trict with in the boundries of
School District No. 25, Boardman,
which will be held at 10:00 A. M.
May 7, 1953. Notice of said hear
ing shall be published in the
Heppner Gazette Times once a
week for two consecutive weeks)
prior to the time fixed for said
hearing. I
The amount of $2,000.00 has
been received from Harry L. Du
vall as a donalion to build a fire
place for the Court house Park,
and said amount has been placed
with the County Treasurer in the
Courthouse Park Fund. The Court
ordered that the Treasurer issue
a check in the amount of $153.15
against said fund payable to
Bruce Bolhwell in payment for
the construction of said fire
place footing.

Grade School held their gradua
tion exercises May 15. There
were three high school graduates
and twelve grade school. The
High school graduates were: Iso
bel Neel, Darlene Forrest and
Yvonne Stubblefield. The Grade
school were Joanne Beardsley,
Henry Cupper, Jr., Nestle Davis,
Darlene Gray, Darlene Groat,
Ellis Hunt, Judy Johnson, Vivien
ne Murray, Carol Sweek, Barbara
Williams, Karie Hooker, and
Robert Porter from the Courtrock
District. Rev. Paul Kimmel gave

son Lewis Neal, who was badly
burned in an explosion about
two weeks ago.
Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Boyer and
son Jimmie and Rhoene Bleak
man drove to Portland Saturday
to visit Mr. Boyer's father, Demp
sey Boyer who is staying with his
sister in Portland.
Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Leathers
and children, Dianna and Buzzy
and Mr. and Mrs. Norris Stubble
field left early Saturday morning
for Thayne, Wyoming to visit Mr.
and Mrs. Leather's daughter and
son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ab
Gates and daughter.
Mrs. Audra Randall received
a telegram from the naval hos
pital in California that they were
sending her son, Royal Stoneman
to the Roseburg hospital.
Last Friday Ben Spain, mana
ger of the Columbia Power Co-op
Assn. and Ben Wallace of Spo
kane attended a business meet
ing in Pendleton.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bixler are
back in Monument to stay. They
invite their friends and neigh
bors to come in and renew ac
quaintances. Mr. and Mrs. Tunis Round of
Long Creek visited friends in
Monument on Sunday. Mr. Round
watched the ball game for a
while.

and friends were business visit
