Three Links Club
Meets al Lexington

The Three Links Club met at
the home of Mrs. C. C. Jones on
Thursday with an all day meet
ing and a pot-luck dinner at
noon. The day was spent in fin
ishing some of the fancy work for
the bazaar and pressing the
things finished. Those attending
were Mrs. A. F. Majeske, Audrey
Ansted, Cora Warner and Mrs. W.
E. McMillan and the hostess Del
pha Jones.
Mr. and Mrs. Gene Cutsforth
was hostess to a Hallowe'en party
at their ranch home Friday nigni.
Those attending were Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Kilkenny, Mr. and
Mrs. Irven Rauch, Mr. ana Mrs.
Gene Majeske, Don Hatfield, and
the host and hostess Mr. and Mrs.

of The Dalles. Mr. and Mrs. Jack
son and daughter Carol visited
here during the weekend with
Mrs. Laura Scott, mother of Mrs.
Jackson.
Saturday Mrs. Francis McMil
lan was delightfully surprised
when Mrs. Art Hunt entertained
with a birthday party In her
honor. Those attending were:
Cora Warner, Gena Leonard, Ber
nlce Lott, Lorrene Ledbetter and
Lois Hunt, Ammabelle McMillan
all of Lexington and a daughter
of Mrs. McMillan's, Mrs. Freda
Slocum of Heppner.
Mr. and Mrs. Claire Hunt, and
Mrs. Elmer Hunt of The Dalles,
visited friends in Lexington on
Saturday evening. Claire Hunt
was a member of the orchestra
which played for the dance in
lone Saturday night.

O. G. Breeding motored to Walla
Walla Wednesday where he en
tered the hospital there for treat
ment. One day last week the fire
engine was called to help put out
a fire at the Jack Griffin home
The report is that quite a little
damage was done to the interior
of the house, but the fire was
soon put out.
The turkey dinner put on by
1he Lexincton H. E. C. was nuite
a success with games and cards
wing played later. This was held
in the Grange hall on Saturday
nigni.
The Lexington Campfire Girls
held their hallawe'en party at the
Davidson home on Thursday
evening. Games were played and
a prize was given the one In the
cleverest costume, which went to
Lucille Kendall and Charlene
Jones who were dressed identical.

was in Boardman Sunday doing
some carpenter work repairing a

Mr. and Mrs. Rav Anderson and
family spent the weekend in
Parkdale.
Mrs. Eva Warner was taken to
the Pioneer Memorial hospital In
HeoDner last week where she is
receiving medical aid. Her two
daughters. Mrs. Catherine Heck
Seattle and Mrs. Viola Follett,
Fairmont. Minn., were called to
her bedside. Mrs. Heck arrived on
Friday and Mrs. Follett arrived
Sunday night. The two ladies
were taken to Heppner Monday
by Mrs. Robert Lyons and found
their mother improving. Mrs.
Emma Ashton accompanied them
to Heppner.

Oregon was a visitor in Lexington
last week.
Giles Parmen is a patient in St.
Anthony's hospital in Pendleton
suffering from a recent heart at

Mr. and Mrs. Carl Breeding of
Stanfield was a Lexington visitor
Sunday at the George Irven and
Dan Way homes.
Mrs. Maude Pointer of Corval-
lis is a Lexington visitor.
Mrs. Clara Gertson was down to
the local church Sunday evening
and showed the fine pictures
taken on the trip to Europe last
summer. This was greatly enjoyed
by the local members.
Mrs. W. A. Rust of llermiston
was hostess to a stork shower on
Wednesday night honoring Mrs.
Bob Christian. Very clever games
were enjoyed with fine prizes. Re
freshments were served to the fol

The Communitny Chest drive
began Tuesday morning at 7 a.
m. under the direction of Dewey
West Jr. and Mrs. Ray G. Ander
son. Each organization in the
community had appointed work
ers to assist with the work. The
group met at the Hitchin Post for
a 7 a. m. breakfast.
Pranksters had their fun and
some more Friday Hallowe'en in
Boardman one glass door was
broken out of the Community
Church, windows were broken in
the Lutheran Church, and several
service station buildings, and also
the fair building.
Mr. Truman Pearson left Wed
nesday for Kerrville, Texas for a
few days wth his mother Mrs.
Pearson. Mr. Pearson received
word his mother was ill, he im
mediately planned the trip.
The Boardman Garden Club
met Monday evening at 8 p. m.
November 3rd at the home of
Mrs. Leo Potts with Mrs. Emma
Delano as co-hostess. .President,
Mrs. Root presiding. The club
voted to donate to the Community
Chest drive. Mrs, Chas Ander
egg reported on dish gardens and
had two nice gardens to exhibit.
Mrs. Edd Kunze gave a very in
teresting report on the Blue
Mountain district convention that
was held in llermiston October 29.
The next meeting will be Decem
ber 1st at the home of Mrs. Chas.
Anderegg with Mrs. Arnold Huff
man as co-hostess. Mrs. Potts
and Mrs. Delano served refresh

All the lone school teachers ex
cept Mr. Gehrke journeyed to Irri
gon last Tuesday evening for the
second meeting of the County
Education Association. The pro
gram included an account of the
facilities and activities of the
Umatilla Ordnance Depot and an
explanation of some of the mea
sures to appear on the ballot.
All the teachers of the school
agreed to donate $5.00 to the
Community Chest United Fund
and Mr. Osibov gave $10.00 mak'
ing a total of $50.00 donated by
the school people.

dent body this week. Mr. Osibov
accompanied the group and acted
as consultant to the Student Acti

There were three Hallowe'en
parties at school last Friday after
noon. Room mothers of the 1st
and 2nd, and 3rd and 4th grade
gave them a party. Room mothers
furnished the treat for the 4th
and 6th grades.
The 7th and 8th grades had a
party in the gymnasium Friday
evening. There was plenty to eat
including ice cream, cake, cookies
and cider. Square dancing and
games 'provided entertainment
until 10:45 when the spooks left
for home. Most of the parents
called for their sons and daugh
ters. The Masons entertained the
boys of lone and Lexington high
Schools at a dinner on Friday
evening. The seniors gave short
talks after being introduced by
Worshipful Master Herbert Ek
strom, Sr. Films of athletic events
and other activities of the past
year shown by Duane Baker con
cluded the program.
A representative of the Oregon
State Board of Health gave hear
ing, tests to all Elementary and
23 high school students last Fri
day. Three. elementary and five
high school pupils were found to
have hearing losses of note. The
county Health Nurse arranged for
the tests.
