mony at the Grant Park Baptist
church in Portland Saturday Octo
ber 4.
, The bride, given in marriage by
her father, Wbre a white slipper
satin dress en train with lace
trimmed bodice and lace sleeves
and a finger tip veil held by a net
head piece trimmed with seed
pearls. She carried a bouquet of'
white rose buds and.white stepha
notis. Mrs. John Kubanks was
matron of honor for her sister and
wore a peacock blue slipper satin
dress with matching head piece
and carried bronze button mums.

flower girls and wore net dresses
over yellow sal in with blue roset
tes. Judy Morgan noire of Ihe
bride, was ling bearer and wore
net over blue satin with yellow
rosettes. Arthur Sanders was beat
man for his brother.
The brides mother wore a grey
suit with black accessories and
the grooms mother wore a wine

Adventists Reveal
Scope of Welfare
The South Central Federation
of Seventh -day Adventists Dorcas
workers met at Pendleton Sunday
October 12, according to Mrs. Elsie
Huston, Dorcas leader for Hepp
ner. She reported that a ten months
report was received from seven
churches present, which Indicated
that $3,514 worth of welfare work
had been done by their workers
since the first of January.
"We feel that we must be good
neighbors to all", Mrs. Huston
said. "We feel that service is the
vent we pay for occupancy in this
world."
Attending the meeting from
Spokane was Elder James E.
Chase, secretary of Adventist
Charities Inc., who councilled
with the welfare workers regard
ing work for the future. We want
to establish strong welfare cen
ters in all major cities in our
area in order that we might be
prepared to assist our friends and
neighbors in case of storms, firesi
or even in case of war. We want'
to cooperate with civilian defense
authorities to the. fullest extent
in what we are doiny.
Elder Oswald from the general
conference office in Tacoma, Park
was the main speaker, he told of
his tour of Korea made about a
year ago. He spoke of the dire
need of food and clothing.

"Reaching from Heaven" was
shown during the afternoon program.

A reception followed the wed
ding at the church. After the
bride and groom cut the first
piece of the four tiered cake the
rest was served by Mrs. Russell
Cox of Pasco, Wash., aunt of the
bride. Mrs. Lloyd Morgan poured
the coffee and Mrs-. Kiltie Morgan
presided at the punch bowl. Mrs.
Wallace Matthews and Mrs. Pete
Cannon had charge of the gifts
and Miss Treva Davidson, the
guest book.

Altar Society Plans
Bazoar In November
The St. Patricks Catholic altar
society held its first meeting of
the fall on Wednesday October 8
in the church basement.
It was decided to have a bazaar
and food sale on Saturday Novem
ber 8 in the church basement.
After the business meeting re
freshments were served by Mrs.
Gertrude Applegate and Mrs. Jack
Healy.
