State Insurance Commissioner
Robert V. Taylor reported to Gov
ernor McKay this week. The in
crease amounted to over 12 per
cent.
The report also stated ther are
666 Insurance companies operat
ing in Oregon, with $182,805,135
in direct premium collections an
nually. Gross claims paid to
policy holders increased 11.3 per
cent.
GAS ENDS CRIME CAREER
The gas chamber execution of
Wayne Leroy Long at the Oregon
State Penitentiary last Friday
morning climaxed a program of
crime and a stormy prison career.
He was sentenced to death for the
murder of Walter Rucker, June 15,
1950, within 24 hours after his
