NOTICE OF BUDGET MEETING OF THE
CITYOF HEPPNER
Notice is hereby given that on the lGth day of June, 1952, at the
hour of 8:00 o'clock V. M. of said day, at the Council Chambers in
the City of Heppner, Oregon, the tax levying hoard of said City will
meet for the purpose of discussing and considering the tax budget
hereinafter set forth of said City for the fiscal year beginning July
1, 1952, and ending June 30, 1953, any person of said City, subject to
said tax, may at said time and place, appear and be heard either
in favor or in opposition to said tax levy as set forth or any item
thereof.

the Willows grange meeting
Saturday evening. Miss Dazell is
the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Arthur Dalzell and is an expert
rider. She is graduating from the
lone High School this year. The
grade, school pupils gave folk
dances for the program, under
the direction of Mrs. Muereen

Wayne Rietmann, son of Mr.
and Mrs. David Rietmann re
ceived a fractured collar bone
while playing at the school one
day last week.
Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Heaton and
Mrs. Edna Stranahan of Hood
River were weekend guests at
the Henry Osibov home. Mr. and
Mrs. Heaton, the parents of Mrs.
Osibov celebrated their 39th
wedding anniversary Sunday.
Gregory Osibov went home with
them for a weeks visit. Mrs.
Strahanan is an aunt of Mrs. Osi
bov. Bert Johnson of Portland was a
visitor here last week.
Mrs. Carl Linn's 3rd and 4th
grades gave the following pro
gram in the gym Friday after
noon last week. It was announ

help of lh0 room mothers, Mrs
Lloyd Rice and Mrs. David Riet
mann during this time volunteer
numbers were given by Harold
Rietmann, Brenda Kay Town-
send and choral reading by the
groups.
More than 45 persons attended
this enjoyable occasion. Mary
Emert presented Mrs. Lirln with a
beautiful good luck bracelet
from all the children and par
ents.

from Portland over the weekend
to spend Mother's day with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Healy

Banquet Held In

Commencement exercises for
the seniors will be Monday even
ing May 26th. This date being
changed from May 23rd, due to
the baseball team going to Drain,
Oregon for the semi-finals.
The Boardman baseball team
were winners from Harper 7-1 on
the Boardman field Saturday af
ternoon May 17th in the quarter
finaj match in the state B tour
nament. This win sends Board
man to Drain Friday where they
will play Malin in the semi-fin-als.
Batteries for Boardman are
Palmer and Gillespie, with Wal
ter Turner as coach.
Baccalaureate services were
held Sunday evening in the high
school auditorium with the Rev.
Warren Thomas delivering the
message. Piano prelude and pro
cessional were played by. Mrs.
Hugh Brown. Invocation, Miss
Wanda Needles, the anthem "His
Footsteps" by the Boardman
church choir, benediction, Miss
Needles and recessional, Mrs.
Hugh Brown.
The Boardman school band
gave a concert Friday evening
May 16th at the school auditor
ium under the direction of leader,
Supt. Ray Forbes.
Friday morning the Boardman
high school students motored to
Ordnance and enjoyed the Armed
Forces Day Open house. This is
very entertaining and education
al. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Harwood
and infant son motored to Star
Prairie, Wis., where they will va
cation two weeks with Mrs. Har
woods parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Kenneth Peabody. They will also
visit relatives and friends in
Rapid City, S. D.
. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Cramer left
Saturday for Wallowa and way
points for several days vacation.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cole, Port
land spent the weekend here with
friends. The Coles recently sold
their farm and moved to Port
land. Bob Smith left for Portland on
Sunday to attend the funeral
services Monday for his grand
mother, Mrs. Sarah Jane Eding
ton. Smith rode to Portland with
the Frank Coles.
Weekend guests at the Ed.
Kunze home were Mr. and Mrs.
Bob Alvard, Kennewick and Mrs.
Howard Edmundson, Puyallup,
Wash. Mrs. Edmundson will re
main for a few days, she is Mr.
Kunzes sister.
Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Forthamn
and family motored to Wallowa
Sunday morning, going over to
attend the baccalaureate services.
Mr. Forthman returned home on
Sunday evening. Mrs. Forthman

HEC was held at the home of
Mrs. Leo Root Wednesday after
noon May 14th with Mrs. Claud
Coats as co-hostess. Monday was
the day set to meet at the Grange
hall and wax the new tile floor
recently laid in the hall. Mrs.
John Walker was appointed as a
member of the Home Nursing pro
gram to represent the HEC.
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Boler and
Mrs. Walter Harwood returned
to their home in Tacoma, Wash.,
after a week vacation at the
home of Robert Harwood.
Mrs. Z. J. Gillesnip harl th mis
fortune to run a hugh piece of
wood into her toe Saturday. It
was necessary to take the nail off
and split the toe to remove the
stick.
