Night Friday
Friday evening, April 25th,
Ruth Chapter No. 32, O. E. S., ob
served "Friendship" night. An
interesting program was present
ed in addition to the regular or
der of business. Friendship was
the theme of the evening and the
guests were welcomed by the
Worthy Matron, Delia Davidson,
who spoke briefly and effectively
on the value and beauty of
friendliness. .
"The House by the Side of the
Road", the beautiful poem by
Foss set to mysic by Kenneth S.
Clark, was sung by Oliver Cres
wick, accompanied by Mrs. Helen
Ruggles at the piano.
A pleasing adenda in which
the May pole was wound by the
Associate Matron and S.tar Points
was enjoyed after which the Con
ductress presented the guests
with miniature May baskets.
Refreshments were served by
Mesdames Anna Graham, Vir
ginia Rosewall, Gladys Connor
and Winnifred Cox.

to the talk being given by W. S. Nelscn, manager of The Dalles
chamber of commerce. The Dalles group brought nearly 50
members for the visitation. Nelson spoke of the development
and potentialities of the Columbia river and the effects which

plans were made for a potluck

May 7 at 7:00 o'clock.-This will

Oddfellows and Rebekahs of the
Fred Edmonds, Worthy Patron,
Ridgfield, Washington; also sev
eral members from lone, Moro,

the room appear less narrow and
will tend to lower the ceiling.

held a Progressive Dinner party
Wednesday evening. Cocktails
were served at the Devine home
with Mrs. Pearl Devine and Mrs.
Clara B. Gertson as hostesses.
Salads were served by Mrs. Piuth

Dobbs at the latter's home. The
main course was served at the
Huffman residence by Mrs. J.
